The wood has a flight computer! A small Pi Zero 2 W (not mounted yet, just on the top shelf to show scale). Up next is the power supply components.

If you would like to help the project, there is a GoFundMe

@gary_bbgames

It's a free STL offered by NASA in their 3D model catalogue. I would love to use raw data to make topography models of terrain of various places. But in this case it's an existing model made by NASA.

A very interesting custom print job I did. It's a 3x vertical exaggeration of Copernicus crater on the moon. The lines from (I belive) the orbital mapping passes are even visible.

This one is actually going to my father for display at his observatory.

Person 1: "Oh that's a cute cat, what breed are they?"

Person 2: "I'm not entirely sure, I think an American Shorthair maybe?"

Avi Loeb: "It MIGHT be an ALIEN SPACESHIP and here is my paper detailing how it's very likely ALIEN TECHNOLOGY!"

Thinking about glide back rocket recovery vs the free spin recovery ive been working on (slowly).

As much as I like the theoretical landing precision of auto rotation. Glide back mixed with a parachute would be mechanically simpler. Less moving parts, less points of failure.

I dunno, i'm just musing. I still need to finish the RTA-03 rocket before I make any decisions on what direction to move forward in.

Well, so far I raised enough to get the flight computer for the wood cubesat. So that's a start and honestly raises my optimism a bit. Now I need to get the camera and power system.

I started a GoFundme for the wood cubesat project. I don't expect much honestly, but even just $50 would cover the flight computer and a few other components.

@isaackuo fully agree. A phone with modern performance, that takes up as little space as one from 15 years ago woukd be fantastic. I miss having a battery life longer than a day.

@SpaceMacSpiff ostensibly 1:48 but the client said it can be bigger to better show details if needed.

Here's my hot take of the day.

Phones should not be made wider and thinner. They would be made a bit smaller and thicker. Easier to hold, better battery life. If you need a tablet get a tablet. Phones should be convenient.

I'm doing a custom order 3D model of the X-20 Dyna-Soar. It will apparently be displayed in AFMC headquarters at Wright-Patterson airforce base.

That's kind of neat. Also the model will end up on my shop as well for anyone else who wants one.

One of my Orions ended up at Vandenberg a while back as well.

@Nick_Stevens_graphics oof that's rough.

If I had a nickle for every time one of my models was displayed at a US military base I would have 2 nickles. Which isn't a lot but it's odd it happend twice.

I'm going to start a crowd funding campaign for the wood cubesat. I don't expect to raise any money for it at all. But I would rather try and fail then not try at all.

stay tuned.

War of the worlds is full of lines that go incredibly hard. Like this one from Chapter 1.

"That last stage of exhaustion, which to us is still incredibly remote, has become a present-day problem for the inhabitants of Mars. The immediate pressure of necessity has brightened their intellects, enlarged their powers, and hardened their hearts."

It will be interesting to see the effects of resurgent polio in the US in the 2030s.

you would think their oligarchs would be against this trend. They want their labour cast to be uneducated and obedient, not chronically ill. Then again long term planning is not capitalism strong suit.

Ok, in the game i'm working on there are modifiers the player can buy and use, one is a health pickup that increases max health. I just noticed enemies can pick that one up and it works on them.

Unintentional, but I think it's funny so I'm leaving that in.

One thing I like about doing smaller projects is I learn a lot of new mechanics I can implement into Cosmic Ocean.

The fantasy game i'm doing currently has helped me figure out a couple mechanics needed. Wish I had more to show of CO but all my recent work on it has been back end.

@nyrath
This feels like a liquid version of a dusty plasma fission fragment rocket. But I might just be misunderstanding the description of how it works.

On that note I really wish more research would go into both pure fission fragment, and "afterburner" fission fragment rockets.
