🔥 #ClimateTech was hot in 2023!
My 2 cents:
• ClimateTech is here to stay
• VCs will grow bored of #AI, as many did with #blockchain

This is a great book on the energy transition. It gives a comprehensive yet easy-to-access overview of challenges and solutions in the energy sector. (In French, the English version coming soon.)
Most of us found #COP28 disappointing. Every COP is.
My 4+ years in politics taught me one thing.
Politicians respond to technological progress and societal shifts but rarely take the risk to initiate changes.
Politicians are always one step behind, often more.
To remain below the +2°C pathway in 2030, we need to cut emissions by 5.3% per year from 2024 onwards.
As a comparison, emissions decreased by 4.7% during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Good luck everyone! 🥵
The notes hung on the frosty air.

"Stop betting, start investing in startups"
Easy to start with:
1. Engage in angel investment
2. Participate in crowd equity or crowdfunding
And if you can...
3. Direct PE or VC
4. VC fund of funds

#COP28 is going just as planned
Don't worry guys, they've got this 🤡

Exciting news! #ClimateTech funding soared in Q3 - 2023!
⚡🚋 Investors and founders are still flocking to the Energy and Transport sectors, making them the top favourites.
🌳 However, #NatureTech is flying under the radar. Is it too early for VC backing, or can we craft a compelling business case for startups in the face of growing concerns about biodiversity loss and the rise of nature-positive corporates?
This makes me happy. A good Sunday read. There is so much more we can do as a human race.

🇷🇺🌾 When considering crop production, no country is better positioned to capitalise on climate change than Russia!
Investors and agri-entrepreneurs, notably Chinese, are already betting on warmer conditions by developing large-scale farms across Eastern Russia.
We'll soon grow crops in the Arctic! 😨
As the growing season gets warmer and longer, scientists predict the leading edge of crop-feasible conditions to shift northwards up to 1,200 km (745 miles) by 2100!

Have people turned down their heating this winter?
Yes - home heating settings averaged almost a degree lower this winter than in previous years.
Source is data from @tado@twitter.com using hundreds of thousands of smart thermometers installed in households across Europe.
Bolsonaro’s four years in power (2019-2022) ended with a 59.5% boom in Amazon deforestation rates, a level that had never been seen in a presidential term since satellite monitoring began in 1988 (data INPE).
