do something, it's going to get done.
Maybe. (If I don't forget)

If you look beyond the daily hubbub of party politics and culture wars, you'll find that underneath it all is a far more dangerous threat — out of control climate breakdown, the collapse of civilization, and mass extinction.
But let's not talk about that. Isn't celebrity gossip more entertaining and reassuring?
For most people, it is. For the rest of us, here's the latest bad news...

Antarctica is warming at about double the rate of the rest of the planet and far more quickly than widely-cited models projected, according to a study published Thursday that alarmed scientists around the world.
"This is absolutely devastating news," declared climate scientist and University College London professor emeritus Bill McGuire.
"First, one has to wonder if perhaps we have already passed the West Antarctic collapse tipping point," McGuire added on social media. "Second, it begs the question, are other climate model projections underestimating the speed of climate breakdown?"

I somehow didn’t know that wallcreepers exist and now I still feel a bit suspicious that the entire internet is playing an elaborate joke at my expense.

I have no doubt that almost all of it is true.
However, there's an egregious lapse in fact-checking that does an injustice to Stephen Jay Gould. In the story, Alan Dershowitz claims that Gould was a regular at Program for Evolutionary Dynamics events at One Brattle Square.
Gould died in 2002. Nowak came to Harvard and opened the One Brattle Square facility in 2003.

How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?
Mathematicians at New York University have come up with an answer: 1,000. Previous studies, however, found it only took a few hundred licks to get to the chewy center.

At my age (which is plenty) there aren't many things that happen to me for the first time anymore. I kind of miss that.
Whole Foods is like Vegas. You go there to feel good, but you leave broke and disoriented.

Don’t you hate it when you walk into a room and forget why you came into corporeal existence on the planet?
Bored. Might invent a new conspiracy theory.
We all look for that #perfect day when we have enough to do but not too much.
