Redwoods standing tall in Redwood Regional Park. Smells really nice. The pines rustling in the wind.
A fellow passenger based in Oakland, CA. www.deborahyoon.com. Opinions are my own.

@robinsonmeyer @dansinker I love all their voices. Also the background flora and general color palette.
@vagrantc my goals are similar - I think that taking softer (but still dynamic!) ukemi is a solid start.
I'm Deborah. I live in Oakland, CA with my family. Ex-NYC. I'm an artist, mama to toddler named Phoenix Oliver, I work in non-profit development for the Long Now Foundation, and my OS is Aikido.
I'm keenly interested in helping keep the art of aikido and letterpress alive and thriving for future generations. Deep music/book nerd. I believe that algorithms foster monoculture.
Community building is Everything.
Take care!
@joshsternberg I think that the firehose is an addiction to many folks. Gotta scroll, scroll, scroll.
I've decided I definitely do not wish to replicate my birdsite experience here and that means I may have to silo a good number of media ppl. We have a chance to help make this place genuinely interesting!
@jackiantonovich I've got legit subscription fatigue over here. Subscribed out. Is that a thing?
Jeet Heer shared the following on the birdsite:
'The New York Times asked Alan Moore for an obituary statement about his longtime collaborator Kevin O'Neill. Moore being Moore, he wrote a lovely 800 words far too long to use. Here it is.'
'I'm going to miss him like I'd miss sunsets'
What a gentleman.
@jamesvasile <3 <3 thank you thank you for these words. Speaking of crew, I very recently reconnected with Ben Bartelle and Miyeko over lunch for the first time in 10 + years. We picked up right where we left off, no worries. Doffing my hat to you from the west side.
@jamesvasile nice to see you here, good sir.
Exploring Port Costa, CA for the first time! The air smells of bonfire, sweet cigars, and November.
@ftrain write up yr findings and share if willing, down the road! Slow moves against the digital dark age. I recall reading a conversation where someone asked Kevin Kelly about long-term archiving of photos. He said the longest term method as far as he knows was print.
@alexismadrigal The idea definitely resonated! After reading about it, I immediately shared it with friends and colleagues. It makes me think of a digital third place: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_place. The whole world needs more Third Places - physically, digitally, and whatever else-ly.
@alexismadrigal sort of reminds me of what you wrote in a newsletter about a dream of an open source local Internet/national public internet for community building.
So far, it's nice here. I find myself having an aversion to RTs from the birdsite (where i post maybe twice a year) and am much more interested in original posts, especially if someone shares a link that comes from a website that is not a giant corp.
@jjb Nice! Gotta carry and pass on the art to the next gen..
Watercolor study of a warm current.
@ftrain a french-style veggie soup. Sorry to send you back to the bird site, but I followed these instructions: https://twitter.com/DiscoPriest/status/1584291113996677120. Very cozy.
