The positive rate of testing, while much lower than in past surges, has consistently remained elevated. The US has had a positive rate of testing above 7.8% CONSTANTLY since May (first image). That's the longest, uninterrupted period of the entire pandemic at this level.

@augieray I would say wear a mask. Even if a surgical one. And get boosted and vaxxed. The mask seems to be the hardest for everyone. As someone with t1d, I haven't been sick since masking a few years ago. It's heaven. But I am thinking a normal person might not understand until they are older.

My timeline is full of layoffs in media and tech. What’s worse is that healthcare in this country is tied to your job. If you lose your job, you lose your ability to pay for doctor’s visits, hospital stays, even life-saving medicine. America deserves better.

It's 8:05 and bedtime. (Mom is worn out)! I really was!

Journalist collective Ignite The Right has just been suspended from Twitter, joining @igd_news, @CrimethInc, @chadloder, @VPS_Reports, and countless other research and news collectives to be banned from the platform by Elon Musk and Twitter's new deputy Trust & Safety Chief Andy Ngo.

Follow them on Mastodon: @UnmaskUTR

Ignite The Right is dedicated to documenting and preserving evidence of the white supremacists who organized and attended the deadly 2017 Unite The Right rally in Charlottesville.

In October, Ignite The Right famously exposed a Boston-area cop as a neo-Nazi and organizer of Unite The Right rally. The nazi cop was fired from the police force and the DA is reviewing every case he ever touched.

EDIT: Andy Ngo is not actually officially working at Twitter. "Deputy" was meant in the sense of a deputized citizen.

An exclusive HuffPost report confirms that Massachusetts police officer John Donnelly played a key role in the violent Unite the Right rally five years ago.Anti-Fascists To Unite The Right Attendees: We Will Find You
In the weeks leading up to the Charlottesville rally, Donnelly coached future attendees how not to be doxxed.

If you’re worried about being identified, Donnelly wrote to members of the group chat, try to be “low key.” Don’t wear T-shirts with slogans or carry signs that might attract the attention of photojournalists.

He also tried to put the white supremacists at ease.

“[Anti-fascists] can review all the footage they want, but unless there is a massive effort, they’re not going to be able to doxx every person there,” Donnelly wrote.

Five years later, Donnelly has been doxxed by precisely that kind of massive effort.

Ignite the Right is a coalition of anonymous anti-fascist researchers that formed on the five-year anniversary of the rally in Charlottesville this past August.

When it launched, the coalition implored people in communities across the country to send them tips that could help them ID people who attended Unite the Right. The coalition now has the photos of 529 people who attended the rally on its website. Two-hundred eighty-one of them have been identified, a spokesperson said, while another 248 still need to be ID’d. (Again, HuffPost has not independently verified these IDs.)

Among the dozens of white supremacists the coalition claims to have exposed over the last few months was a computer science professor at Furman University in South Carolina. The professor, Christopher Healy, has been put on leave pending an investigation by the school.

In a statement to HuffPost this week, Ignite the Right emphasized that it will never stop its search to find the fascists who terrorized Charlottesville.

“A woman was murdered at Unite The Right by a white supremacist compatriot of neo-Nazi cop John Donnelly,” the statement said. “The white supremacists who attended Unite The Right are an ever-present danger to their communities. We cannot tolerate Nazi cops and Nazi gun dealers having the authority to execute or imprison people. All his cases must be reviewed.”

“White supremacists operate at all levels of society, including business, academia, and government,” the statement continued. “We will never stop hunting them down and exposing them.”

We are at most, a few months away from apps with content and sharing mechanisms just not possible on Twitter or other centralized, closed-source platforms. That's when the momentum will really start to build for Activitypub and other protocols supporting federated networks. We have stop talking about it being a twitter "alternative" and start talking about is as an evolutionary step forward in global social networking. Because that's what it is.
