Enjoyed working in the garden today. Hereโs some beauties. A poppy (self seeded), Chilean guava and oxalis #gardening #ukgardens #gardeningmakesmehappy
Those eggs on nettles I posted a few days ago are now hatching. Hereโs some more recent photos #nature #ukinsects
@Abstract_Bit it may have been identified as a hoverfly larva, which seems most likely, thank you though ๐
@TanAn I think that's it! Great find, thank you. I will need to put it somewhere safe as it may have been hiding so it can become an adult. Thank you again ๐๐น
@TanAn had a look at the netted slug. Similar pale colours but a closer look at this creature suggests not a slug as it is quite dry (although not dead I don't think) and it doesn't have the two antenna.
@TanAn thinking about it more now, maybe a hoverfly larva - the type that lives on plants rather than in stagnant water and eats aphids?
@TanAn I thought that possibly but it looks so unusual. My ID book is so old it doesn't feature many mini beasts sadly.
Can anyone ID this, please? Found under a pot, it's only just under 1cm in length. I have zero idea what it could be. #nature

Ladybird larvae photographed today #nature #ukinsects
@botanyone I read about this yesterday! I love the points you raised in your thread.
Adult blue shield bug in the garden today. I couldn't get a good photo as it didn't stay still long enough. Nice find as I've never seen one before #nature #ukinsects
Visited a glasshouse that was once used for growing orchids. It's now a rainforest exhibition. Despite being a small place, it was very interesting though I wish it had more to teach about rainforests. Hereโs a collage of plants that I photographed there. Most of these are often found as houseplants here in the UK.
I don't think the blackbird was too impressed with sharing her bath with a house sparrow #nature #greenspace #ukbirds
Happy Wednesday everyone. I'm spending time sewing seeds and potting on in my garden (with a doctor's appointment in the middle). Here's the first peony of the year in my garden:
These roses are flowering now. I can't wait for the false orange to bloom too. I planted this rose underneath the false orange years ago and when they both flower it's so beautiful. It wasn't even planned! #gardening #ukgardens #gardeninspiration #gardeningmakesmehappy
Was lucky enough to get some free dahlia tubers from a garden in Oxfordshire. The head gardener was going to throw them away so offered them to any takers. How lovely was that? #ukgardens #gardening
