I was having a conversation with a person, as indicated on #Reddit, who is otherwise well-meaning, but just can't grasp the concept that a plutocrat only cares about the short term (through exploitation) in order to make the world better for themselves in some fantasy end-game scenario.
They just kept saying/implying that "well, as the conditions for each person worsens then Neo-liberalism/Reaganomics will just stop, it'll fail." Like a light switch, apparently, just Off! Haha. 😂
Ameri-brained "liberals" on Reddit just have the weirdest concepts of how the world works, sometimes.

When you write hashtags that contain multiple words, make the first letter of each word a capital letter, for example #DogsOfMastodon. This will make the tag readable to blind people.
Blind people use the internet through screen reader apps, which read text out aloud. By putting a capital at the start of each word in a hashtag, you are telling the screen reader how to say the tag correctly.
In the non-techy world this is generally known as "CamelCase".
(Techy people may call it PascalCase)
Remember.. every thing you get that has worth without doing the labour to get that thing, pushes that labour onto someone else.
Do not let others dictate what you are and are not allowed to like. So long as it does no harm, enjoy your interests without guilt. As well, a true warrior will not force their tastes on others, but will happily share with all who wish it.

@bkahn He shows signs of anxiety at times so I'm really trying hard to avoid any kind of "problem" with reading conversation with him because of the fear as you state, yes. I don't want that thought in his mind if there isn't really an issue beyond, maybe, motivation. Just trying to work with him and support him.
@johnettesnuggs I feel like the "let them choose" regardless of the book type is just going to have to be, yes. There has to be autonomy in this for them to avoid the "chore" aspect, for sure.
And my partner and I have our thoughts on the Dyslexia and/or ADD angles. But then he turns around sometimes and blows us away with his reading so go figure, right?
@marc_w For sure. We do spend time with him on this. My partner does more than I do. I get the feeling, though, that's he's just trying to get through it as fast as possible (guessing words for example) as he feels there are other more important/fun things he can be doing instead.
He and I are a lot alike this way. 🤷
Also, as an aside:
When I say that we have a fascist economy here in the Pig Empire, I am in fact making a pretty clear reference to the perpetual war economy. There's a good argument that the chief thing the Allies learned from WWII is that capitalism as we understanding it requires funneling vast sums of public money (and credit) into a particular industry; the arms industry. This debt is then transferred to more or less "anyone else" and even the people you fire those weapons at.

Nothing seems to have been able to prepare me for seeing how my child is struggling with reading.
This framing, of course, is *all* wrong. This is, after all, *not* a *me* issue and *my own* feelings here do not matter in the least. I have to remind myself about how difficult this must be for my child and how they must feel about it all. I don't just need to support them I *have* to.
It's still gut wrenching to see, though.
