π₯ REMEMBER: Cool ash, before you stash! π₯
Fireplace ash holds heat for up to 5 days and can spark new fires.
Always soak it with water, in a metal bucket before binning it. Never spread or place fresh ash outside near vegetation - even in the wet winter, it can start a fire.
RNZ have prepared this awesome explainer with everything you need to know about the Emergency Mobile Alert system, ahead of this eveningβs nationwide test (between 6-7pm)
Spoiler alert: You canβt opt out, because you canβt opt out of emergencies.
