Introducing Maccoyibacter gen. nov, a novel bacterial genus named after our IMPACTT Director Dr. Kathy McCoy for her many scientific contributions in the field of microbe-host interactions!

The type species, Maccoyibacter intestinihominis, appears in the newly-published HiBC (Human intestinal Bacteria Collection), a publicly available collection of bacterial strains isolated from the human gut.
