@paul Being able to recover and hoping to be able to do so are very different things.
@rachel_elson @paul Point taken, but I think there needs to be a further slicing of the age group. 55-70 yrs old had to support their kids through ‘08 recession and onwards to a greater extent than most people realize. My bankruptcy practice has been telling that story for years.
@paul Could be because GenX hasn’t saved enough for retirement overall and sees active management of an equity portfolio as the only way to “catch up.”

@garius This was fascinating; thanks for telling such an amazing story. Agreed that it reads like a harrowing war movie.
Filing for bankruptcy can provide an "automatic stay" to creditors making collection attempts, halting lawsuits, foreclosures, phone calls and letters related to debt. Navigating bankruptcy can be difficult, and courts require lawyers to provide transparent costs to clients. Many courts have adopted "no look" fees to simplify the process and allow for fair fees. #studentloans #PublicServiceLoanForgiveness #IncomeDrivenRepayment #studentdebt #REPAYE https://www.moneywiselaw.com/bankruptcy-legal-fees/
@rbreich This is exactly what the right wants to happen. They’ve repeatedly said so, directly or indirectly. Anyone who is shocked has not been paying attention.
@mattmattmatt True, but SO much work churned out by lawyers is a first draft. If a consumer is sued by XYZ Credit Card Company, the law firm for XYZ uses the same form of Complaint, and the consumer's lawyer uses the same Answer. The names and amounts change but much of the rest is standardized.
@mattmattmatt Lots of litigation and contract work starts with forms and templates; AI makes it 100x faster to create the first draft more reliably, which is where I see it starting. Also basic research.
