I am a woman, but I'm CERTAINLY not a lady.
I don't actually have zero followers, they're just intentionally hidden. (Note, it will still show as a non-zero number on some instances due to weird cache effects or software not acknowledging GlitchSoc saying it's -1)

@catsalad Ugh don't rub it in...

6 degrees F is like -14.5 C

God this cold snap sucks

@NMBA I'm not Google

@tyler But tbh, it's well beyond the technical capabilities of most folks to do that.

The most direct solution in the medium term IMO is an addition to privacy law like GDPR that also says people have a right to appeal bans, and beyond that, appeal to a regulatory board.

If we have Google and Apple acting as essentially a public utility for basic functioning in the world, then they need to be regulated as one.

Sure, the conservatives wanting to appeal to allow hate speech is bullshit. But also ... If it's an anticompetitive market like "who is allowed to use a phone", honestly, even awful people should be allowed to use a phone, even if they get banned from BlueSky or whatever since there's dozens of social media

The long term solution, obviously, is trust busting

@munin it's another flavor of the Shirley Exception. $megacorp builds all this automation to catch fraud and abuse.

Then $megacorp makes all these endless layers of bullshit to make it so even humans reviewing the case can't use their minds and say "this was a false positive, we need to change this".

Instead, they just leave the various people caught in false positives out in the cold. And everyone who reads their plight and please just turns away while thinking to themselves "well, surely if they had ACTUALLY followed the rules this wouldn't have happened... It could never happen to me

@johnefrancis I checked the logs, and nothing had happened with it. So I'm not actually concerned. It just went in a username field on a website so if they're good at their jobs they redact it from their logs in the first place. But still worth rotating

@johnefrancis it was my personal so I went ahead and rotated it. That vault has my whole life in it even if I have MFA on it

this is the price of loyalty to any one company or brand - your entire life ruined when happenstance or malice has them decide you're something to be purged.

hey.paris/posts/appleid/

I just heard someone unironically do a Yogi Berra (slightly adapted)

"Nobody goes there anymore. There's too much traffic."

Everything I know about Massachusetts geography I learned from Fallout 4

@sudonem sigh I was good on it for a couple years this time. That's going to be some annoying muscle memory

@sudonem but I don't wanna......

@catsalad pfft I'm a security engineer. It's Hunter-2!

When you accidentally type your master password someplace and now have to try and decide whether to reset it again or not...

I'm such a child. This combo of pills makes me giggle every day.

A hand holding 3 pills. Two are round shaped, and one is cylindrical shaped. They are arranged to look like a cock and balls.

@JessTheUnstill

I don't want a lot for Christmas
there is just one thing I need
If I get coal please put a lighter
underneath the Christmas tree
I just want to light a fire
and hope you share this one desire
make my wish come true
to burn the patriarchy with you

What women REALLY want for Christmas is to burn down the patriarchy.
