I started writing a post about individualism as a cultural phenomena and just didn't have the energy to do it justice.

Suffice to say: it stands at the root of most of our problems.

I'll also say that I see its impact in the politics and tactics of many leftists (real leftists) too.

An inability or unwillingness to forgive is an individualist impulse.

"Self care" that centers alienation and exile of "difficult" friends is individualist.

Ultra-wealth is individualist.
