Anna Mykhailova is going to DrupalCon, and we love that for her and for us! She brings a thoughtful perspective to every conversation, and we know the week will give her plenty to explore, question, and bring back to the team. And as a team spread across the Americas, we’re always glad when folks get the chance to be together in person. Here’s hoping for good conversations, fresh insights, and a little inspiration from Chicago' architecture, from one builder to another.

Portrait graphic of Anna Mykhailova on a beige background with the headline, “Anna is going to DrupalCon!” The quote reads, “I’m going to DrupalCon to ensure our strategic decisions are grounded in reality. I want to see how teams are integrating AI without undermining Drupal’s structured authoring experience.” Text below identifies her as “Anna Mykhailova, Director of Technology.” Kalamuna and DrupalCon logos appear along the bottom.

One of the best things about DrupalCon is the way good ideas travel. Yuri Seki is making the 15 hour trip all the way from Brazil to swap notes with the community, explore what’s next in Drupal, and bring fresh thinking back with him.

This is a man who once endeavored to find the best slice in Rio de Janeiro. We’re sure Chicago will send him home with radical new opinions about pizza.

Somebody, please also make sure he tries a Chicago dog!

Wide graphic on a pale lavender background with a hexagon-cropped portrait of Yuri Seki on the left and the headline, “Yuri is going to DrupalCon!” on the right. The quote reads, “With AI, developers are shipping code faster. My focus is how to manage the necessary infrastructure to support all the new AI technology, and how to improve the CI/CD pipeline to make sure we are delivering good tested code.” Text below identifies him as “Yuri Seki, Drupal Developer.” Kalamuna and DrupalCon logos appear along the bottom.

Bob McDonald is going to DrupalCon and he'll be in Chicago for the first time!

We’re excited for the conversations, the learning, and whatever ideas he brings back with him. Food pics would be great, too. Let's see how deep a deep dish actually is, Bob! 😋

Graphic featuring a portrait of Bob McDonald on a pale blue background with the headline, “Bob is going to DrupalCon!” The quote reads, “I’m excited to get a better handle on Drupal Canvas and Drupal AI. I’m really looking for some good information on how to build a maintainable Canvas-based theme that follows best-practices.” Text at the bottom identifies him as “Bob McDonald, Drupal Practice Lead.” Kalamuna and DrupalCon logos appear along the bottom.

HBD to Anya Mykhailova! 🦊

In this imagined scene, Anya teaches a fox to code. It just feels right. Even the cleverest fox has more to learn. Her leadership isn’t about proving brilliance. It’s about nurturing it in others.

Like the fox in The Little Prince, Anya reminds us that what we build deserves care, patience, and responsibility because people are at the heart of everything we do.

Anya, may your year be full of elegant systems, bold questions, and a little everyday magic!

Anna Mykhailova sits in a sunlit forest clearing, smiling gently as she shows a laptop screen to a red fox perched beside her. The fox looks attentively at the code on the screen, as if learning to program. Anna wears a gingham shirt and glasses. Trees surround them in soft light. To the left of the image, large text reads “Happy Birthday Anna!” with the Kalamuna logo at the bottom.

Ever step into a maze with no signs, no directories, and no clear path forward? That’s what a web page feels like when headings are used incorrectly.

Headings tell screen readers how to interpret a page. They help users scan and decide whether content feels navigable or discombobulated.

At DrupalCon Chicago, @mikemccaffrey will share practical site-building tips for accessible page content.

Happy Birthday to @mallis, our mon capitaine!

From AI to analog, URL to IRL and back again, Andrew takes in the horizon while zooming in on the details that matter.

Under his care, we’ve helped institutions advance missions and built platforms that put people at the heart of everything we do.

Cheers to another year of enlightened thinking, joyful living, and a better internet! 🎉

Catch GitLab CI failures before GitLab CI does.

Bob McDonald is sharing a ready-to-use configuration at Florida DrupalCamp so you can run the same CI checks locally before hitting Drupal.org’s pipelines. If you’re tired of pushing code, waiting on CI, and then finding out you missed something small, this session will save you time and frustration.

We endorse the United Nations Open Source Principles as a practical framework for how public institutions can build digital systems that are resilient, accountable, and accessible.

When done well, open source supports cross-border collaboration, reduces vendor lock-in, and keeps public digital infrastructure aligned with the public good.

Happy Kalaaversary, Andrea!

You help turn Kalamuna into a community through small, steady practices. Our 1:1s. Our team dynamics. The unseen magic of how we see, speak, and listen.

That culture radiates outward into our client relationships and our broader community. When something frays, you help us repair. Thank you for all that you do. We're better because you're here.

Just a lil humble brag about our team showing up to a meeting color coordinated. Nobody sent a memo, but everybody got it. Different time zones. Separate roles. Same wavelength.

Starting the year off in sync and ready to collaborate. It’s so fun working with this crew. 🩷

Happy Birthday, Kristin!

A fairy godmother wields magic to break down barriers and open opportunities. They're never really in the spotlight, yet always playing an integral role. Without them, there'd be no story. That's you, Kristin. We'd lose the plot without you. Thanks for all that you do.

May your year overflow with fulfilled wishes, dazzling launches, and every day magic!

Mariam continues to set the standard for how good work gets done. How something is built matters just as much as the outcome, and it shows in everything she touches.

Mariam consistently does things the right way, and she brings fresh ideas to the table with care, rigor, and imagination. The result is work that’s not just correct, but considered.

Cheers to four years, Mariam, and to all the thoughtful sorcery still ahead ✨
