✨ Awe and wonder in action!
Messy play is where curiosity comes alive, and sometimes that means children end up wearing the learning as much as doing it!
This is why we always say: don’t send your child in anything you don’t want to get messy! 🎨

A wonderful discovery in our Forest School garden today- real mushrooms growing amongst the leaves! 🍂
The children observed their shapes, textures, and colours before creating their own beautiful clay mushroom sculptures.
We also talked about how wild mushrooms can sometimes be dangerous, and these were safely removed after our exploration. 🌿

Young children don’t need to know about the details of war- instead, we can help them connect with the ideas of remembering, caring, and saying thank you to people who help keep others safe.
Our visit to the Stone Recreation Ground Memorial, where the children laid their handmade poppy wreath, helped them connect with this idea- that remembering can be a peaceful, thoughtful act of gratitude. 💮

“Children are not things to be moulded, but people to be unfolded.” — Jess Lair 🌼
At KatieB Kids, we believe every child’s journey is beautifully unique. Our role is to nurture curiosity, celebrate individuality, and provide the space for each personality to bloom in its own time.

From tiny, stripy gourds to big, bumpy giants, every pumpkin tells a story through its shape, size, colour, and texture. This Halloween, our little scientists have been dissecting, scooping, and discovering what’s inside.

🐌 Try at Home: Model Snails!

Create your own little snail friends using clay or homemade playdough, a conker for the shell, and any loose parts you can find for the eye stalks; twigs, beads, or pasta all work wonderfully! 🌿

To make your own playdough, simply mix flour, water, and a splash of oil- a perfect hands-on activity for fine motor skills, creativity, and exploring natural materials.

🌿 “Children learn more from your calm than your words; when we slow down and notice the world with them, we teach them how to be present.” ✨

At KatieB Kids, mindfulness isn’t just explored in our 'dots' sessions, it’s woven into everyday moments. From watching raindrops on the fence to feeling the crunch of leaves underfoot, we model calm curiosity and help children develop emotional balance, focus, and joy in the here and now.

🍂 “There’s magic in the simple moments; watching the leaves fall, feeling the crisp air, and noticing how the world changes around us.”

At KatieB Kids, we love giving children time to connect with nature and experience the rhythm of the seasons. Throwing leaves, exploring textures, and observing colour changes help children build a sense of wonder, grounding, and awareness of the natural world

In celebration of Black History Month, our little bakers explored the story behind Jamaican Ginger Cake- and how the ingredients travelled across oceans! 🌍💛
They stirred their way through sticky ginger, dark sugar and warm spices, learning how these flavours connect to Jamaica’s rich heritage and the journeys that brought them to kitchens all around the world.

🌾✨ Harvest time at KatieB Kids! ✨🌾
Our Prescolare children have been exploring the meaning of Harvest Festival- talking about where our food comes from, how we can show gratitude for nature’s gifts, and the importance of sharing with others.

To celebrate, the children decided our nursery garden needed a little extra protection… so they created their very own scarecrow to watch over the vegetables! 🥕🌻👒
