@JugglingWithEggs I think you’re all right. Logically it would better if everyone were honest and clear in their communication *and*, in the world we live in now, doing that can cause a lot of upset - because most people are neurotypical & many of them will interpret it as an affront.
All you can do is negotiate a way that works within your family. Asking doesn’t encroach on someone’s autonomy if that person can trust that they can say no without it being a problem. That trust has to be earned
I can’t speak for him but I know for me if I know someone is in the habit of hiding their true feelings/opinions in order to keep the peace, then I can’t trust anything they say. I don’t know if they’re saying that something is fine because it is fine or if it isn’t at all fine and they’re just pretending. I can’t tell the difference because autism, and so I just can’t trust anything they say & I can never feel safe or relaxed. There’s no peace for me in that
@JugglingWithEggs That’s really interesting. I’m definitely an asker (AuDHD) - although as a woman when I’m asking for help I do it with a lot of learned softening.
But I’ve always regarded guessers as the ones being presumptuous because in my eyes they don’t give me the choice to say yes or no, to clear the air or to set a boundary because everything is inference, assumption and subtext.
@Sobtanian Yeah I’m with you on that one. They’re lovely socks and excellently executed, but the heel is making my eye twitch just a little.
It’s an entirely subjective thing finding a heel that strikes the right balance between what you enjoy making and the look you like. The fun bit is that there are loads of different heel methods to try which means a lot of sock knitting 😊

Feel like I want to restart my #DOS2 run. Re-doing nearly 30 hrs of gameplay isn’t necessarily a prospect I relish, but then neither is redoing this Alexander fight a 3rd time because my builds are sub-optimal & this game is rude enough to deny me a Withers.
Not even sure why I’m hesitating tbh - now I think about it I don’t believe I’ve ever played an RPG *without* restarting about 20 hrs in (when I’ve learned enough to realise I want to do things differently)

This is something I struggle with as well because most people respond to anxiety with the idea that facing what makes you anxious will reduce the anxiety. That's how it works for most people, and for autistic people as well but only to some extent.
For us, so much that makes us anxious is nor irrational *fear* which, when faced, we can learn is irrational, but anticipating pain and wanting to avoid what actually does hurt us.
If people don't understand how overwhelm, interruption, and uncertainty are *actually painful* they can't accept that it's not just a irrational anxiety we can learn to push through.
14 hrs in to #DOS2 and I’m loving it!
Much as I love 5E I’m really enjoying the flexibility of not being restricted by classes. I’ll be interested to see whether that creates more or less replayability than BG3 (which I’m still in love with, and build crafting for, over 2,000 hrs in).
I even like the magical/physical armour system, which I know is widely unpopular. I like having to plan my build decisions & combats around it.

The Trump admin says that people can avoid CECOT by voluntarily giving up their rights to be in the US and self-deporting, even when there's no legal basis for deporting them.
All US admins say that innocent Black men can avoid the harms of prison and jail by "confessing" to crimes they didn't do.
This thread is not to minimize the horrors of CECOT.
This thread is to say that I wish more people knew about and cared about how many innocent Black people have had their lives destroyed by the exact same horrors.
This tears Black families apart.
As I've said before, racism is just fascism practiced on Black people first.🤷🏿♂️

@Lewie_Kong Making the game less fun for other people in order to prevent them from making a choice that you don’t want to make is never going to be helpful in an RPG. If you feel that the origin characters don’t work with any changes to their class that’s fine, you can just choose to never respec them - and people who enjoy respeccing them can do that.
