I started listening to a set of lectures on the Iliad. I intended it to be background noise to cover my tinnitus as I went to sleep. I thought, hey this will be dry academic stuff. Surely I will not get invested in discussions of a centuries old poem that I already know the basic story of.

This weekend, protesters opposing the construction of the police training compound known as "Cop City" reoccupied the forest that the police are trying to destroy. For two days, hundreds of people of all ages gathered to share music, food, literature, art, and camaraderie.

Tonight, while the festival was taking place on the other side of the forest, demonstrators damaged equipment at the construction site itself. In response, the police attacked the festival, which they themselves described as "peaceful" in their press release. The police press release falsely implies that the arrests took place at the construction site, whereas all reported arrests appear to have taken place at and around the festival.

Since 2000, the ‘israeli’ military occupation forces have been documented using Palestinian children as human shields in at least 26 instances.

International law is explicit and absolutely prohibits the use of children as human shields by armed forces or armed groups, yet ‘israel’ continues to use children as human shields without facing retribution.
