I want to normalize talking about something that is often treated privately, but that the majority of humans have personally dealt with.

Periods.
Menstrual cycles.
Being on the rag or visited by Aunt Flo or any of the other phrases we've turned to in order to hide the discomfort.

And, to do so I'm going to be putting a content warning on all of the replies and polls below, because some people are genuinely disgusted by the topic and don't want to interact. Which is fine for them. But if you are interested and curious and also want to normalize this conversation, please do click in. Weird question: who is doing something new and different here? Not new as in “just started,” but new as in you have never seen anything like it elsewhere on social media. Someone using the Fedi for something you haven’t seen done on Twitter, Bluesky, etc.

Things no one tells you about rising waters that results in flooding: there is a tremendous shock that the animal body experiences when one’s shelter is suddenly changing. And then one must change quickly if one wants to keep important things that are important. While in shock one will grab all they can and dash to the highest vantage point. But, strategy and reason must also be enacted. What is needed and where can it move?
