I've been away from Mastodon for a bit, just really having a hard time as a fed employee and scientist trying to hang on to whatever we have left. For anyone who needs something peaceful right now, here's a sunset on the wilderness coast of Washington.

Another reason to get a library card! I've never been an audiobook listener, in part because I didn't want to give Amazon any more of my money, and I never tried Libby, an app that at least some local libraries use for ebooks and audiobooks. The Fulton County Library System is now using The Palace Project, and after I figured out how to log in (not super intuitive) was able to download an audiobook which will replace podcast scrolling while I'm walking the dog or doing yardwork. The parties included a 7-year-old boy, wearing a shirt emblazoned with a pizza cartoon, who spun a toy windmill while the judge spoke. There was an 8-year-old girl and her 4-year-old sister, in a tie-dye shirt, who squeezed a pink plushy toy and stuffed it into her sleeve. None of the children were accompanied by parents or attorneys, only shelter workers who helped them log on to the hearing.

Apparently, as @f and @ssg mentioned, Bluesky has started honoring account restriction / takedown requests from Turkish government.

Bluesky has been a haven for Turkish leftist people, because both the government and X has restricted access to the leftist accounts.

After people accepted Bluesky as a safe place, their "limiting access of accounts to specific regions" is frustrating, and exhausting.

I've been promoting ActivityPub / Mastodon for years, and I'll keep on doing so.
