Another evening in this hellhole.
Why can't we just let these pro-Palestine activists be held accountable for their acts under normal laws? Why make this a terrorism issue and ban the entire group?
The history of protest has repeatedly highlighted unjust laws/policies by breaking laws around burglary or destruction of property.
Anyone yet seen a news article which asks *why* there are huge US military bases in Qatar, Iraq etc?

Objectively, it's far more troubling that they're banning Toni Morrison and David Levithan and Art Spiegelman and any books that even hint at representing the right's Horsemen of the Apocalypse
But there's something so completely batshit about banning _Calvin and Hobbes_, a comic strip so family friendly that it ran uncensored in the most conservative newspapers in the country for more than a decade

It's not just Iran that will move to nuclear weapons much faster as a result of Western intervention. It's also Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey.
Why would any rational leadership not run to the bomb when it's literally the only thing that will protect them from regime change?
Unlike the Green Party of England & Wales, the Scottish Greens recognise the deeply problematic proposal to proscribe Palestine Action, and its threat to democratic rights of protest.
It would be good of 'our' green party (I'm typing this in NW England) would do the same.
@stephenkb.bsky.social look at their avatar. I donβt think those people can be convinced.
As Sam Alvis (IPPR) points out there's many industrial strategies that the UK could be looking at for ideas; the Q. is whether the Labour Atlanticists can take their eyes off the USA & seek inspiration elsewhere.
But even more urgently, without action on energy prices (not just for a select group of businesses) any industrial strategy will be foreclosed by a failure to reach a second term.
Of course, there are other reasons there may be no second term!

@ChrisMayLA6 (I note the author avoided mentioning the openly pro immigration policy of the Spanish government)
@ChrisMayLA6 when has a U.K. government looked for solutions elsewhere than across the Atlantic?
@bruce @TheBreadmonkey his Room Next Door with Starmer is also a sheer brilliance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZiyPR1seag
Hi I'm Ben your Ai chatbot
Would you like a picture of the Pope?
A reminder that the Iran mess was begun in 1953 when the Americans organised a coup against the popular elected government (reinstating the Shah). The Brits had asked for US help after Iran took ownership of its oil production, previously an Anglo-Iranian venture.

(Original title: Google bribes iNaturalist to use generative AI β volunteers quit in outrage)
YOU bombed THEM on THEIR home soil you dumb bint.
Guardian readers are not impressed with the absurd suggestion that Palestine Action should be a proscribed terrorist group. Are Zionists really so insecure? (Mind you, they should be, their position is untenable.)

@peark.es heβs watching us? What is he, the racist orange elf on a shelf?
It turns out creating a situation where 25% of global petroleum liquids might go offline at any minute has an impact on oil prices, who would have guessed.
