I am leaving Mastodon and will be on Blue Sky almost entirely. Mastodon is useless, poor technology, few users whereas Blue Sky has 24 million users and grows by 2 new user accounts a second -- and Blue Sky removes spam bots, fraud spammers, violent Republican terrorists, and everything else, plus allows people to create muted posting lists of words, among better technology.

@CRiceS Why do people post climate related stuff to social media when everyone already knows that the climate is warming and knows why? Who do tens of millions of people post the same stuff a hundred times a day among people who already know what is posted because they're posting the same stuff?

Me 11 years ago, my ancient backpack roped to a cargo pack I believe up on Mount Islip on a #hiking trail repair project and over nighter with my bicycle left at Deer Flats Group Campground. I was much younger then.

I hate the political shit that people post, tens of millions of people posting the same political shit a thousand times a day on a dozen social media platform, pretending that doing so is "activism," that posting the same shit everyone has seen a thousand times already is "doing something" and "fighting back."

I follow people for outdoor stuff, then have to mute or unfollow them when they post political shit over and over, pointlessly, stupidly. I'm sick of all the pointless political shit.

Cleaning out monument trees for #hiking people to be able to see that they are monuments to people who have died from about 20 years ago to some 25 years ago. Dunn Canyon Trail rest area got maintained so things don't look unkept and shoddy #volunteersmakeadifference #volunteering #hike

@original_peterm But there is a public toilet, its half a mile further West, and it is lighted and it has running water. Hikers have no excuse p00ping in the bushes, a great deal of volunteer effort goes in to keeping the toilets clean and the wipe stocked, the Parks and Recreation City employees hire contractors for most repairs and to stock the butt wipe. I don't know if it's hikers who are lazy or hikers who literally can't hold it for another half mile.

@pkufeldt Ug, when it comes to p00p fairies, along the South, East, and West forks of the San Gabriel River, we find used baby diapers by the hundreds -- and that's despite trash bins being placed here and there. We find them everywhere.

This morning I cleaned up about a dozen piles of human dung before clearing the brush and tree limbs that formed a curtain where humans felt comfortable p00ping -- on public lands near the Dunn information kiosk. It occurred to me that I am, in fact, a p00p fairy :) Many volunteers handle such clean-ups

I found an exhaust pipe for a 1972 in among the brush and tree limbs I cleared today along Dalton Wilderness Park, lost lo these many decades and yet it is mine now, volunteers get to keep everything we find so mine! I love my new exhaust pipe. #hiking #FindersKeepers

Cut back ladder fuels at Dunn information kiosk which was also being used as a #hiker #hiking impromptu toilet. Cleaned up the fresh dung and stacked the branches for the wood chipper. Will not be used for a toilet any more, I would hope!

My water catchment and debris basins are empty of water. It used to be that there would be several thousand acre feet of water here, percolating in to the San Gabriel Valley aquafer. As anthropogenic warming has progressed, the water has dried up :( This is water we used to drink #climatechange

:) This is gold. :) Engineers and scientists learn far more about processes and materials, biology et al. when an experiment or an engineering work fails than if everything goes according to design. :)

Mastodon has some 975,000 monthly active users which is down from 2.5 million just 2 years ago.

I'm not sure if Mastodon is useful. I work hard to avoid and eliminate seeing political shit which is endless and pointless, so I'm at Blue Sky which has 20 million users.

I'm probably going to leave Mastodon since people boost political shit and I don't need such ugliness in my life.

The @USDA Forest Service gave an award to the wonderful Restoration Legacy Crew volunteers for their stunning trail repair work in the Angeles National Forest -- I have posted some of the group's trail work, I dare say they do more work than the SGMTrailbuilder volunteers!
