Coming up on the 3K hour mark in .

I find myself in the group of folks who regard it as a cozy game. It’s just comfortable. Like sweatpants and a hot coffee on a rainy day.

Build ships and outposts, craft and loot, maybe pirate a ship here or there. 🙄 Y’know, cozy.

Highest character is on her 34th unity trip, mid 600s. Don’t know how I got here, but you can guarantee it involved a lot of adaptive frames and dead xenos, lol.

Wonder how much time I’ve spent modifying gear and ships?

So... Would anyone be interested in an interactive map app for Mario Kart World? 👀

Day 4: I can see why they released at launch with . It’ll have no problem holding many folks over while S2 games trickle out.

Free Roam is a delightful addition to Mario Kart I’ve already spent hours on, and a surprisingly chill way to play an otherwise hectic game.

I’m loving cruising around, unlocking outfits and stickers, new karts. It’s a really nice way to explore tracks, work on tricks, learn how a kart handles.

Quite the change of pace from traditional MK fare.

once again speaking to my soul.

The B-52s were such an important group. So many artists took influence from their off the wall style. “Rock Lobster” in particular, gets stuck in my head several times a week.

Last thing about achievements. Nintendo’s in-game tracking approach is my favorite.

A perfect example being Animal Crossing New Horizons. You have a neat list of activities that reward you with in-game incentives to accomplish tasks. They’re for you, no one else. More of a todo list than capitalistic cattle-prod. Thoughtful and whimsical. I appreciate the care in their design.

I’m honestly glad Gamer Scores aren’t a thing on Switch either.

Gamer and Trophy Scores push you to make the number go up, play more for the sake of a digit. You get that little dopamine hit every time an achievement pops. You’re encouraged you to move on once you’ve played something “enough”.

Despite having the means to buy what I want, I find myself playing only a handful of games, and thus get achievement anxiety. I _should_ play something else, but I don’t. I wish I could hide the scores.

One other thing I appreciate about Nintendo, is their restraint.

Currently, they are the only console manufacturer that doesn’t pollute their Home Screen with ads. It’d be really easy for them to make a quick buck and shoehorn in a bunch of junk, but I’m glad they don’t.

Both PlayStation and Xbox have so much garbage on there. All I want to see are my games, and system widgets like settings and batteries.

Xbox and PS feel like the ad supported web. Switch feels more like an iOS Home Screen.

After a couple of days, something I’ve noticed about , is the refinement. It’s less toy like than the previous gen.

It feels more premium. There’s less creak and wiggle in both the attached Joy-Cons and Pro Controller. The matte finish is nicer. Buttons and sticks feel better. The UI is snappier, more colorful, with subtle animations. OG Switch titles play so much better, too.

While I’d still love a smaller model, after some time, I do think this is an upgrade worthy of the price.

looks awesome.

Great character design and seems to have quite a bit of depth. There’s an English trailer too, but the Japanese VAs are so much better.

I can always use another good .

I’ve been extremely impressed with the base M-series minis over the last 5 years.

Bang for the buck, they’re a great deal, and punch well above their weight.

I’ve had no issues with dual displays or running apps like Logic or Ableton Live.

They’re super reliable and quiet, too.

Fantastic little boxes.

Setup a new M4 Mac mini. It’s a solid upgrade for anyone like myself, who’s coming from a base M1.

I unplugged everything from the M1, plugged it into the M4, restored a Time Machine backup. It took 15 minutes. Once again, I kept using the power cord from my old Intel 2014 mini. Still works.

New Spigen mount to keep it under the desk. Took about 3-5 minutes to replace the old mount. Hole placement was the same.

Less than half an hour to swap some tech is a win in my book. 😎👍

Very happy Switch 2 Launch day for those who celebrate! 🎉

I'm sure many will take this opportunity to revisit Zelda or .

If you do, I've just released a new update to my companion app, TotK Travel Guide. It adds main/side quest tracking, and.....

It adds the BotW map to the app. So now you can use the app not just for TotK, but also for BotW. Same app, same UI, completely different world.

I hope you enjoy!

Having played the in both handheld and docked, I have mixed feelings.

While the bigger display is nice to look at, I hate holding it. I might not travel/commute with it.

The Switch 2 is just so big. It takes up a lot more space in a bag, approaching “iPad w/keyboard bulk” once you put it in a case. It’s a very western feeling evolution. More F-150 than Honda Acty. Way less charming.

I’ve been spoiled by the Switch Lite. I maintain the want for a dockable Lite 2.

I adore this game and its soundtrack.

While I do miss some of the quirky charm of the 3DS, like the AR bits, this game looks awesome.
