Got three job rejections in one day so I'm going to ask again for your help finding a new full-stack web development job. My website/portfolio is available at https://casey.kolderup.org. I'm a great team member and I've worked at small startups and medium-sized companies with success working across teams and disciplines.
The other two are EPs. The Dan Bern EP is a full-band set that was recorded in Fall 2020 with all parties remote (obviously). An old favorite on there in “Butterflies,” a song from the 1990s which gets its first studio recording here. A timely song about George Floyd.
The Mangan thing is a sampler of songs from his great release, “Nice, Nice, Very Nice.”
Been a minute since I heard a Lorde album, and missed the last one entirely I think because it was never released on CD (or not at the time, at least). This one is very good - what I’d expect, maybe, from the continuation of Lorde but it’s okay to have a predictable sound if you’re good.
You can carry over the same thought to the Rufus CD as well.
The Divine Comedy disc is a little oddity, demos for a musical that itself never had a cast album.
Playing today:
Lorde, “Virgin”
Rufus Wainwright, “Unfollow the Rules”
The Divine Comedy, “Swallows and Amazons: The Original Piano Demos”
Dan Bern and the Remote Ramblers, “Shining”
Ben Folds, “Rockin’ the Suburbs”
Dan Mangan, “Robots vs. Indie Queens”

If Bongo Comics decided to finally (re)release their comics lines in mainstream digital comics channels (or license for the same), I’d become very poor very fast. #TheSimpsons #futurama
Listening today:
David Bowie, “Rock ‘N’ Roll Star”
That’s all for today - 5 discs of “pretty much everything” associated with “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy…” It’s never everything, though - seems like there’s always something on a previous release that remains exclusive and you have to hold onto everything forever.
The Gracie Abrams album is something I picked up blind based on one song. It was fine, a few pretty good tracks and some tracks that are just okay. The eternal gamble of purchasing physical CDs - even in an era where supporting the streaming behemoth theoretically exists…
This is probably my least favorite of Elliott’s albums, but still has a lot of great stuff on it. No Name #1, Last Call, Condor Ave.
The Bern album is a double CD thing that he released independently (in Canada?) shortly after his major label debut album. Some of his great early songs, including a few songs that went on to be re-recorded better with #AniDifranco on his next album Fifty Eggs.
The Divine Comedy album is definitely short, but among my favorites of Neil Hannon’s. No fat on it.
Listening today:
Dan Bern, “Smartie Mine”
The Divine Comedy, “A Short Album About Love”
Gracie Abrams, “The Story of Us”
Elliott Smith, “Roman Candle”

We were too late to see Wicked 2 in theaters around here, apparently. Figuring out tonight’s dinner now - a rare meal that won’t be pizza!
The other tenth birthday picks were 1) takeout pizza for Dog Man with ice cream cake, 2) Dave and Busters for lunch on Saturday, which was Very Loud, and 3) homemade pizza pinwheels with chocolate chip cookies for the Tall Girl movies.
Movies 2-4 of 2026. All my kid’s picks for her tenth birthday weekend.
Dog Man was a rewatch - saw it in theaters. It was cute enough, but I’m genuinely glad that we’re aging up more often than not out of cartoons and into romcoms and one of my favorite genres, teen melodrama.
The two Tall Girl movies were the latter category and they were just fine Netflixy examples.
I haven’t been in a #Spencers Gifts in like 25 years, but it appears that they still have The Goods

“Knock on the Door” by Phil Ochs
Look over the oceans, look over the lands
Look over the leaders with the blood on their hands
And open your eyes and see what they do
When they knock over there, friend, they're knocking for you
With their knock on the door, knock on the door
Here they come to take one more
With their knock on the door, knock on the door
Here they come to take one more
