The application deadline for the Mary Kelley Prize and other SHEAR book prizes has been extended! The new deadline is April 1.

The Mary Kelley Prize is awarded to the best book published on the history of women, gender, or sexuality in the Early American Republic, 1776-1861.

The application deadline for the SHEAR/UVA Press Dissertation Prize has been extended! The new deadline is January 20.

This prize is awarded to exceptional dissertations pertaining to the history of the Early American Republic, 1776-1861.

SHEAR invites participants for a reconfigured online Graduate Student Research Workshop for the Spring 2025 semester!

The workshop is open to all current graduate students (or recipients of a 2024-2025 degree) with a work-in progress on the history of the early United States and its world.
