I disagree that Souter became a "convert" to liberal and progressive causes. He swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and he based his judicial opinions on the Constitutionality of the cases before the SC. The thing that's overlooked here is, the Constitution is a liberal doctrine, as it GRANTS rights, not them away. It's a shame that the majority of those on the SC don't understand this.
