I'm struggling to find the source of the quote, but the "autonomous" buffet cart reminds me of something profound I once read:

We got excited for flying cars and Rosie from The Jetsons, but prepared humanity for the stage of development where robots *didn't* work well.

At a Japanese restaurant tonight. A chirpy-voiced robot rolls up to deliver food, sheepishly followed by a human lifting the food from the robot to the table.

The robots have not taken over yet.

Work trip to Bristol today with just enough time for a few snaps of older and new cycleways.

Much better than some of the homeopathically marked stuff in the city!

A wide two way cycle track with a zebra crossing over it. Footway and shops to the left and the road to the right after a planted verge strip.Cycleway under construction. Road left with a kerbed buffer and footway right. Cycle track does a little wiggle right then left to create a crossing refuge between the cycle track and road.A two way cycle track left and footway right both crosa a side road over a zebra crossing wide enough to cover both.

@RantyHighwayman You've captured the lane under construction next to where I work! Looking forward to one more entrance kerb to dampen a very speedy turn off of Victoria Street.

When I told the B&B in Lagos that I'd be leaving before breakfast, Joรฃo insisted on making me a breakfast care package.

I'm not sure about the "Mrs. Matthew", but I don't hate it. :)

A brown bag with black permanent marker writing. On the bag reads "Metal" (room name), "Mrs. Matthew, thank you, Joรฃo"

Calรงada portuguesa (Portuguese pavement) is a style of mosaic small stone paving common in Portugal, dating to the 19th century. Common designs include geometric motifs and designs evoking the sea.

It is also slippery AF when wet, and if you saw me looking like Bambi on ice at 2am in Lisbon, it wasn't (solely) due to the Super Bock.

A design of a crab in black paving stones, surrounded by white paving stonesA design of a big flat fish in black paving stones, surrounded by small white paving stones. A geometric design of small and large squares rotated 45 degrees of the main axis, with the squares in brown or black stone and the surroundings in white stone.

Anyway, here's the last beach before America, near Cabo San Vincente, Portugal.

A totally blue sky, rocky brown-red cliffs with short scrubby vegetation on top, leading to a beach with choppy turquoise waves.

My main IG got the bird picture, and my trains-only alt got the DMU picture.

You lovelies get both!

A stainless steel train with blue front, CP 0465 departing Lagos station towards Faro, even though the destination sign says Lagos. I love the various colour accents of the CP trains. A seagull standing in wet sand, looking off to the left, with its image reflected in the sand.

The cafe just started playing "The Fate of Ophelia", so it's time to start walking again.

Top half is a city of white buildings along a hill against blue sky. Bottom left is a turquoise sea washing up on a beach. Bottom right is a brown plateau with scrubby green plants.
