I'm currently reading "Evil" by Roy Baumeister because I want to understand why people act contrary to socially established moral standards. What drives them? What (meta-)cognitive processes are involved? Which impulses are set & experiences/behaviors are linked in such a way that the impression/phenomenon is created that people have no conscience? Is there a point that has the potential to intervene if other living beings are to be harmed?
Improving the living conditions of others sometimes sounds easier than it actually turns out to be. One's own privileged situation does not mean " throwing help over others" and thus thinking you're doing something good.
If you don't consider this carefully, you can cause more harm than good.
For me, the most important thing is to put aside my own Eurocentric view of the world and listen carefully to what those I want to help really want and need.

Currently I am reading regarding evil & cruelty in humans as it's fascinating why people act sometimes the way they do & maybe harm others. I see that ethical principles, religion & othering play a crucial role in shaping our behavior & societal traditions lived. I am still exploring & it's kind of hard to grasp but being aware of our biases towards the groups we're operating in and towards the groups with which we do not identify is highly important to move towards more peace & less conflicts.
