Don't forget @coopartisans 😃
I like figuring out how things work. #solarpunk #OpenSource #FOSS #hacker
Open source developer (both software and hardware). If you want tech that is secure, doesn't spy on you, and works without the internet, then we have something in common.
I believe in the https://value4value.info/ economic model and would like to use it to create sustainable, non-corporate, open source projects. This includes giving a portion of donations/profits to projects that projects that they depend on.
Don't forget @coopartisans 😃
👀 I'm planning on going carless when my '96 Subaru can't be repaired.
We've been noting down things that will be difficult (e.g. picking up a cubic yard of compost) and figuring out how to deal with it.
Between bicycling, busses, and borrowing (or possibly renting) cars a couple times a year, it seems completely doable in our town.
Just a periodic reminder that if you are on the #left and living in the #US, you might want to make sure you have some cash at home instead of keeping it all in the bank. You might want to buy something without the new administration being able to track it.
As for online donations and purchases, you might want to have some kind of plan to do that without a financial institution too. Could be barter, could be mailing cash, the lightning network, etc.
A better world is possible.
Remember, cypherpunks are the closest thing we have to these defenders. If you are reading this, you may already be one. You may become one. Or perhaps you do support them. If not maybe you will in the future.
In the cyberpunk world, corporations have been enthrowned. Nearly everyone depends on them for their daily lives. They may or may not control government, but it's clear regulators aren't getting in their way. They know pretty much everything everyone does.
There are a few who fight against them. Using encryption to blind them. Building decentralized systems to route around the current system. Exploiting them and retreating underground.
In reality, things are much diff--- um, nevermind.
A scathing review of the progress to a carbon free future.
Thanks for the reminder about mutual aid not being charity work. I need to follow more people like you and fewer people who equate mutual aid to charity. I agree with your stance.
FWIW, I think you're #investing your time, money and effort wisely. Not only that, you're being very generous in sharing it with others.
So I'm glad to see you keeping at it. And I think you could start a business that didn't exploit workers if you wanted. ❤️
And I'll just leave it there and keep the focus on the things that we agree on. #positivity
@tinker Thanks! I'll try this masterblend.
Does it come with instructions on how much to put in from each of the 3 different bags in that kit?
Remember, if the money supply weren't constantly increased, we wouldn't have inflation. People wouldn't be incentivized to buy things sooner before things get more expensive.
If the money were deflationary, things would be even worse. People would actively wait as long as possible before buying new things because they know their money will go further in the future than it does now.
It'd crush metrics like GDP and hurt Wall St. and bankers alike. Think of the economy before advocating for this.
Here's a link to the plant food. I'm fresh out, so it's an opportune moment to switch if that would be helpful.

I've had algae on another plant, so I know what that looks like. Since then, I've been more vigilant about keeping light out of the water.
But on the plant from the earlier photos, the slight green is the plant roots themselves. It's barely visible, so maybe I shouldn't have said anything and just let the photos speak for themselves.
One quart jar, roughly half full. The roots are in the water, but there's a gap where they are exposed to the air. There's a significant mass of roots that are in the water (around 60% of the roots are submerged, 40% in the air).
I don't think I have topped this one off. Certainly have not drained & refilled. I planned on adding water (& food) when it got low enough that I could add water and still have that air gap. If that's not correct, I'd be happy to adjust.
@tinker 🤷♂️ I was trying to follow your guide.
I sprouted in place, added Fox Farms Big Bloom for food, 12 hours of light per day on a timer. Set it and (more or less) forget it.
I have other plants growing in dirt in the same room, under the same lights, and being fed the same food and they seem to be doing fine.
I'm not sure what's going wrong with the hydroponic ones.
cc: @tinker any ideas on this one? 👆
People keep posting about the privacy nightmares of Microsoft Windows like they are a bad thing, but maybe they are exactly what is needed to get people to stop using Windows.
You've tried public outcry and it worked. It bought you a few more months. If you want to take it a step further, and affect Microsoft's bottom line, you can do that.
We all have to make our choices.
What would it take for you to be able to do that?
Looking for #hydroponics #help. My celery has seemed to reach a terminal height of about 3 inches.
Water is clear
Roots are white/light green
Roots are in the water
Fed it Foxfarm Big Bloom
12 hours of light per day
Room temperature is typically around 18°C
One leaf dried out, but the rest look healthy.
Any ideas on what I should do next?
The kale appears to be having the same problem (but then again, it's younger too).
