@pixelkeen that looks like about what I'd be designing, and I was planning to try it to learn our CNC router.
I'd love to see your dxf files.

@pixelkeen please
@ajroach42 looks like a *lower rent* astrocity knockoff. I would own one!
@ajroach42 honestly it's a tragedy more arcade games didn't combine driving and light guns
@babble_endanger yeah, I figured that out from the packaging, I just don't know who he is, you know?
I didn't get a picture of Virtual On: Cyber Troopers, but it's my favorite arcade game by a sight.
I haven't played it in years. Their cabinets were down for repair.
I'd really love to build a virtual on cabinet. I have all the woodworking supplies and expertise I need, and I could probably reason my way around configuring a PC with a twin stick controller and an emulator (I was a senior engineering manager at a major tech company for a few years so... You know, my actual tech skills are basically garbage 🙃) but I don't know which version of the game would be ideal for this setup, and I don't know which twin stick controller is any good.
And I kind of just want to get a real cabinet.
Well a pair of them. It's best as a multiplayer experience.
But also, I don't want to turn in to a coinops guy.
More cabinet photos. I didn't recognize these.
They had some other games.
Localish arcade appears to have some generic televisions shoved into acrylic panels with fight sticks mounted to the front.
Was this a real cabinet design?!
I do not know who this man is, but he's very cute.
What is this? I'm disgusted and intrigued.
Hey fedi, what's some good simple mapmaking software? I want to make a map similar to old school mud maps. Maybe I should just do a simple ASCII map.
#ATL I AM HERE

Come on out to the West End, get yourself a tasty bite at the food hall, and catch the rock and punk show!
Doors at 4pm, and a lineup to go well into the night.

(PS the food hall had Gelato, just sayin)
@reb my best friend of 15 years and his partner of 3 years split up really ugly, and it keeps getting messier.
I'm coping.
@Harleck I'm sure there are circumstances for which this is applicable advice and I am glad not to find myself in them.
I'm okay, just staring down other people's poor choices and being reminded of the things I never dealt with as a kid.
:oof:
Today has been a day for unlocking repressed trauma and putting it on display.
pro tip: emailing a long bullshit screed to your ex, and bcc’ing everyone you know that knows them, and sending the screed via SMS to anyone that knows them that you don’t have an email address for, just makes you look like a massive fucking dipshit and makes your ex look like the victim you’ve turned them into with your bullshit actions. don’t do that unless you’re really going for massive fucking dipshit energy.
today was a rough day.
a friend is going through a nasty breakup that’s being handled poorly.
but our community came together to give them support and aid in removing themselves from the unhealthy situation, and despite everything going poorly, folk still found the opportunity to connect in fellowship and understanding with each other (aside from the principals in the breakup, unfortunately, who were both otherwise distracted). if anything, I believe that some of the bonds we foster grew in good and healthy ways today despite the chaos and pain surrounding everyone.
community: it’s not easy. it’s hard as hell. it’s also absolutely critical and absolutely worth the work and the pain and the failures.
