Security practitioners, I have a question.

If there is a RUMOR of a breach of any type is there any harm in being cautious? Is there any harm in alerting the public and advising to take action? Such as suggesting to change passwords? Or should we all wait until the information has been confirmed?

I understand that there are laws in areas that companies must report security breaches to law enforcement and the public but what if we are not in the purview of a company and still alert the public?

I'll admit that I may not have vetted the information to everyone's satisfaction but what is the harm in be cautious?

On a related... Microsoft if also disabling the bypassnro script on Windows11 install forcing people to install and aregister a Microsoft account.

I believe there might be options on Pro level to still get away from using a Microsoft account like joining a local domain or something like that...

Should you put a pause on your job search and application submissions after you receive a job offer that might take some time to process?

I received a conditional job offer where the onboarding process could take up to 6 months to complete after a background investigation.

While I'm waiting for the process to complete should I continue my job search and application submissions. I really would like the position that I am in process for. It's one of my dream organizations to work for but I'm not sure if I should wait to find out if I've met all the conditions for employment.

If I find out I do not meet the conditions for employment I may have wasted a lot of time waiting to find out. If I continue my job search and find employment and then find out I've met all the conditions for the organization I would really like to work for it would feel unprofessional to resign from a company if only working there for a short period.

Because of NDA's I cannot mention who I applied with and what position I applied for.

Went to a #startrek convention today and met Doug Jones (Cmdr. Saru) from Star Trek Discovery. My cousin-in-law was in line for an autographed picture.

Doug Jones has got to be one of the nicest, most approachable celebrity ever. He took the time to speak to the couple ahead of us for a long time, then he took the time to speak to us when it was our turn. Before we left he got up from around his table and gave all of us a hug! A really really nice guy... and hard working... check out his IMDB page... he's been in a lot...
