I have a computer science degree and work in IT. I'm a fan of Apple, but not to an extreme. I enjoy playing acoustic guitar and electric bass. I'm blind.

We're finally starting to use Clockify at work. The website is usable, but not good. I'm hoping that, once everyone starts using it for real instead of just us in IT testing things out, I'll get permission to make my own desktop app. The first-party one is almost completely inaccessible, and I want to set up global hotkeys. Hey @app, any update news? I'd love to make my own session for Clockify.

@ladyhope Not reminders, the Health app has a medication reminder system that's separate from standard reminders.

@EdenLinnea @Tamasg Yep, 4 lines of 12 cells. The site says that you can put units together, such as two for 4 lines of 24 cells or 8 lines of 12 cells. The site also says 480 dots. I presume the extra dots are for the graphics abilities.

@remixman Yep, the Health app. It's handy because you can mark a dose as taken or skipped, so you can look back later to see when you missed one. It can also send a follow-up reminder. Plus, the notification has actions for taken/skipped, and Apple will try to detect drug interactions.

On my iPhone,, I recently set up the official medication reminders feature in the Health app. It's surprisingly helpful. The only problem is that I accidentally hit "add time" a second time, so now I'm reminded at 7:00 and 7:05 to take the same medication. So far, I haven't found a way of removing the (accidental) 7:05 reminder. Does anyone happen to know how I can do this? Again, this is in Health, not normal reminders.

OK. Some of y'all wanted a stereo recording of Cadence. Here's my recording on: How it works with NVDA, how images work, how connecting two of them works. You'll also hear the pins more accurately. Enjoy.

@Tamasg Thanks.

@Tamasg How much is each one? I can't find the price on their website. I thought it was around $6000, but I might be thinking of the Dot Pad X. Oh, one thing I forgot to ask: do they have cursor keys of some kind? Being able to read text, find a mistake, and instantly jump my cursor there is a big deal. I still don't think the Cadence would work for me, but I'm curious all the same.

@wenwizzle That's too bad.

@wenwizzle I'm just curious: what about your multi-line Orbit? Did it not work out, or is the Cadence's ability to do graphics and refresh faster what's causing you to consider the change?

"The problem is, right now, talking to Copilot in Windows 11 is an exercise in pure frustration — a stark reminder that the reality of AI is nowhere close to the hype.

I spent a week with Copilot, asking it the same questions Microsoft has in its ads, and tried to get help with tasks I’d find useful. And time after time, Copilot got things wrong, made stuff up, and spoke to me like I was a child.

Copilot Vision scans what’s on your screen and tries to assist you with voice prompts. Invoking Copilot requires you to share your screen like you’re on a Teams call, by hitting okay Every. Single. Time. After it gets your permission, it’s excruciatingly slow to respond, and it addressed me by name every time I asked it anything. Like other AI assistants and LLMs, it’s here to please, even when it’s totally misguided."

@Bri @tspivey Oh, I didn't realize that. I'll be setting it up after work.

@Bri @tspivey You can assign hotkeys to full DSP chains? That's powerful. I'll probably never use it beyond this volume thing, and then only if the plugin Tyler sent me doesn't work for some reason, but that's a really cool option.

In Foobar 2000, I'd like the option of boosting volume above 100%. I have a hotkey to set volume to -0Db, which I assume is the same as setting the volume to 100%. I'd like to be able to go to 100%, then boost past that, using my hotkey to undo the boost when I don't need it. Is this possible?

Say I were to connect my AirPods to my Windows laptop. How would I then manage things? How would my AirPods know when to switch back to my phone? Could I tell Windows to not use them, without having to re-pair next time I wanted to use them with Windows? Could I get Windows to automatically connect, or would I have to choose them every time? I'm aware of the latency and quality problems with bluetooth audio on Windows, but I've heard that those are getting better.

@DavidGoldfield @grammargirl Only 22? That's not as bad. I think the NIV I had as a kid wasn't entirely interpoint (embossed using both sides of the page), so it was much bigger than it needed to be.

Yes, computers are great. Digital braille and speech are way smaller than these paper towers. Now, if only electronic braille would come down in price.

@grammargirl Print, sure. Now I'm wondering what that monster of a book would be like in braille... An NIV Bible is about 60 volumes, I think. The fourth Harry Potter book is, if memory serves, ten. I can't imagine what a five-pound book would turn into.
