Theme: Reflections

When I heard that the theme for this week was "Reflections", I immediately thought back to the moments within the 2021 series Vivy where studio WIT STUDIO decided to show off by inserting hyper-realistic close ups of the main character's eyes.

While some people complained about these moments, I consider them to be one of the many highlights of the series.

These moments, whenever they appear, really immersed me into the series and made me see the tragedy from the eyes of Vivy.

Just beautiful moments that absolutely captivated me and made this series into my top pick for 2021.

Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash has plenty of action and tragedy, but this standout isekai #anime also has great downtime, as well. From shopping in the market to restless night chats, it lets its characters just exist in its world.

Even with their limited funds and meager supplies the, group's heavy hitter, Moguzo, enjoys displaying his softer side by cooking for the others. Mealtime is one of the few places they can be happy in the tough world they found themselves in.

This week's #AnimangaPictureChallenge ( @apc ) is "Cooking"!

Inspired by @BongoMcnulty 's choice, I too have gone for cooking disasters. My choice is Hinako's early attempts at cooking from "This Monster Wants to Eat Me"!

After learning that Hinako is unable to cook and that her aunt will soon be away on business, her friend Miko comes over with a bunch of food with the goal of teaching Hinako to cook. They start with some bento components - meatballs, wieners, rice, and tamagoyaki.

It goes... poorly.

You will be pleased to hear, however, that after this scene, Miko's 1 month of intensive cooking training pays off, and Hinako's bento becomes the envy of others.

This is an unusually light piece from an otherwise very dark anime - watch with caution.
