The manhunt for the United Healthcare shooter demonstrates something that I've tried to explain many times over the years, and that data shows is true: increasing police presence in a Black neighbourhood, usually *increases* the murder rate in that neighbourhood.🙂🙃
Wait... What?!
Yes. Seriously.

What if we considered claim denial a murder weapon.
#FuckFelon45. It’s where I’m at today.
One of the first targets of the billionaires would be protections for consumers like you and me. Consumer Finance Protection Bureau protects Americans from abusive banking practices. But that hurts billionaire bank profits.

What a ridiculous argument. I suspect this is the same clown as Twitter. There’s a weird segment of the far right that seems to think bravado wins arguments. God doesn’t exist. Christianity is abusive.
A former Boston Globe & Reuters reporter who is now homeless gives a gutting, beautifully written, and clear-eyed firsthand account of what it's like to be homeless in America right now.
This is the best article you'll read today, easily. The ending is chilling.

@luckytran why?
@Catawu thx. Perhaps it's not what I **wanted** to hear, but it helps.
It's so fucking #creepy how desperately #Republican men want trans girls using same bathroom as them.
@Catawu ugh. Did you find a gadget that did what I described? I haven’t succeeded yet.

We have a dog who likes to stick her face in the cat’s litter box. To keep her out, we have baby gates around the house. I’m not a fan of having to climb over the baby gates around, so I’ve been thinking about alternatives.

I was feeling bad about "not getting over it" yet, but then I remembered this isn't like when someone dies.
Acceptance is an important part of grieving because if you don't accept that someone is dead you'll get haunted or something.
BUT. This isn't the kind of thing that one "accepts" No. Not accepting any of it is important.
It's more like becoming comfortable with not accepting much of anything.
Finding more ways to not "accept" Even if it's just canceling a bunch of accounts at first.
Facebook memories reminded me of the one truly viral thing I ever made, this graph, circa 2011.
A cleaned up version appeared in the Guardian and it's now common to find versions of this graph for different countries.
To the very best of my knowledge, my janky copy and paste job was the first.
