@ajn142 Congrats mate!

@skinnylatte confirming what @solsetur said. It's been super wet (and chilly for Singapore standards) for both days of CNY.

I've often wished I could show #Mikrotik changelogs by component so that I could track a feature's progress. For instance recently a friend asked me about MLAG support in Mikrotik and I said.. ya its been mentioned in recent changelogs a few times. What I didn't realize was that it had also been mentioned in ancient 7.x versions like 7.1.2 so its actually been around a lot longer than I thought.

*one weekend coding session later*

And the Mikrotik Changelog Tracker was born. It can sort by version number or by date. It can show you changelogs only by component, or you can search for a specific keyword. You can limit your channels to stable, long-term, development and testing.

@siracusa @atpfm Regarding the discussion on using MDM profiles to disable the Red Badge of Tahoe in System Settings, there is another workaround using Prefs Editor, which I found via Reddit (reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/1n).

It's not as effective as the MDM trick since you do not get the nice "Your device is running the latest software" dialog in Software Update and there is still a "Software Update Available" notice when you open System Settings, but the advantages are you don't need to be running any funky shell scripts if all you want is the red badge removed from your Dock icon.

@mmeier Ah. That problem. Short of a sealed envelope in your house, not sure there is a good answer.

@mmeier I have 1Password prompt me every couple of weeks on mobile and every time on reboot. Annoying, but helps with the muscle memory on that password!

Been using a number of AI models over the past week or so as work has slowed down, giving me time to explore things more deeply.

Been using Claude Code with musistudio/claude-code-router which is great as I can switch between different models on similar tasks.

Experience so far has been that Gemini 3 Flash is very good for thinking and coding tasks but the code does tend to be fragile so rewrites are needed. For tough problems where the errors are not straightforward it falls down, but GPT 5.2 with "High" reasoning succeeds where Gemini 3 Flash doesn't.

Kimi K2 Thinking and Deepseek 3.1 Exacto are a very good thinking/doing model combination but can feel a slower than the others.

And by golly Claude Code sure can get stuck in loops on a regular basis.

The #citibank #singapore website is an absolute goldmine of #uxfail.
Want to login? Scan a QR code with the app.. Then enter an OTP code sent via SMS (because that's secure). Now you're logged in, you're thinking that must be it. Oh you sweet summer child.

Now try to view your official monthly card statement. One more QR code to scan! One more SMS OTP to enter! Now dance, monkey. Dance.

I understand that most companies ship their Organization structure in software and Banks are the pinnacle of Conway's law, but how did anybody sign off on this absurd dance?

@cydonian there are not enough facepalm emojis to express my opinion here.

@rachel Yea I thought it's a nice visualiation of services and there is a distinct API service. So might be possible to plug the output of this tool into something like grafana and then overlay the traffic?

2025-10-28

@rachel Had to go scroll scroll scroll to find your thread on the topic of network observability, but this project that was recently posted to r/homelab might be of interest to you: github.com/mayanayza/netvisor?

Footnotes seem to be missing?

@rachel having consistent block lists does make sense to me.

2025-10-21

@rachel well it lasted 12 hours or so. That's progress right?

@nelson Yay! Always a good feeling!

On vacation in Australia and out on a road trip to the Blue Mountains. Sadly the weather gods did not cooperate and it's been raining and foggy the whole day. So just hibernating in our Airbnb and hoping that tomorrow's weather forecast of cloudy but dry does hold.
