I’m putting this request out into the world again: I’m looking for eco-fiction to read and write about at briefecology.com. If you’ve published some, or have a good recommendation, send it my way. I’m particularly interested in stuff from small presses, and 200% more likely to write about it if it’s weird eco-fiction

@lcwheeler Yeah, the efficiency and simplicity keeps me using an ereader for some things, but you just can’t beat the real thing

I rode my bike to the library to return a book, which isn't terribly exciting, but I'm pleased that I can now take care of local errands by bike instead of car.

Anyone got a good recommendation for books on conceptual figure design? Not something software-specific, I’m thinking something more akin to Tufte’s Beautiful Evidence, but more focused on the concept figure. #AcademicChatter

Scenes from a (Quiet) Revolution.

For the last two weeks, the street between two elementary schools in #Montreal have been closed to cars.

My son goes to one of them. The drop-off and pick-up, which used to be dangerous and stressful, have become a real pleasure—something to look forward to.

Take a look:

Our eldest dog soon learnt that a medical intervention of any sort earnt her a treat so you soon just had to look at her foot and a treat was demanded. She then extended this to her deserving a treat if another dog had a medical intervention. Then if I do something to Stuart that may be considered medical. Yesterday I was cleaning my camera with q-tips, which I also use on her ears. She watched me intently then demanded a treat for my medical intervention on the camera😂

"Ice can end". Spotted on the corner of Mission and 18th in SF. This is one of Sapien's "Magic Acrostic Squares" that can be read left to right, or top to bottom. #SFGraffiti #AbolishIce #Graffiti #MagicAcrosticSquares #Sapien
Large graffiti on a wall in San Francisco. The text has three words, Ice, Can, and End, written in a 3 by 3 square. So the words can be read from left to right, or from top to bottom. The letters are on a wall filled with other graffiti pieces by other artists.
