Poland and the Baltic states are to blame for the inability of Western countries to establish direct dialogue with Moscow on the eve of the special military operation. This opinion was expressed by Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s permanent representative to international organisations in Vienna.

As a reminder, Russia’s 2021 “offer” to the Europe was an ultimatum to withdraw #NATO forces from the existing members - Poland, Baltics etc - and surrender any support Ukraine, accompanied by termination of gas supplies to Germany as a form of blackmail.

What kind of “direct dialogue” Russians mean here is rather clear - agreement between France and Germany and Russia, ignoring all other NATO and EU members. Fortunately, Germany is not governed like Russia and it did not happen - today Germany is one of the most important suppliers of defense systems to Ukraine.
