#California’s state agency CalPrivacy is building a new Delete Request and Opt-out Platform (DROP 😂).

Starting Jan 1, 2026, you’ll be able to submit a request through DROP, asking data brokers to delete your data.

Starting Aug 1, 2026, data brokers are required to start regularly processing consumer deletion requests, reducing how many times your data can be bought, sold, and pop-up on sketchy websites. 😎

This is exciting, as it’s a FREE service for California residents, similar to existing, paid services like Optery, Incogni, Privacy Bee, DeleteMe, and EasyOptOuts.

In short, it implies that #LightPollution is decreasing the efficiency with which #plants remove carbon from the atmosphere. It concludes that artificial light at night increases “#ecosystem respiration” (plants, microbes, and animals releasing carbon dioxide through their activity and growth), but there is no corresponding increase in #photosynthesis.

The result is that plants exposed to ALAN emit more #carbon than they absorb from the #atmosphere. The authors write: “Our findings show that ALAN disrupts the fundamental energetic constraints on ecosystem metabolism, warranting the inclusion of light pollution in global change and carbon–climate feedback assessments.”

My personal comment is that while the corruption at war time is truly disgusting, we can’t lose from sight the following facts:

1. In summer, Ukrainian society has actively defended independence of NABU (anti-corruption agency) and SAP (anti-corruption court) on country-wide protests
2. NABU has successfully investigated this scandal, charging the sitting government ministers (!)
3. All Ukraine’s media freely report about corruption on all levels
4. Zelensky demanded immediate dismissal of the ministers charged from the government (who appoints them)

Every single of these points clearly demonstrate that the 2025 Ukraine is already light years beyond not only Russia, but also 2010’s Ukraine of Yanukovych.
