Finished project! A "button-up" shirt (with metal pops instead of buttons).

I made the pattern by tracing from a shop-bought shirt I like, after SO many failed attempts at drafting from my measurements and the tests not fitting right.

The fabric is 100% cotton "typewriter poplin", which is super tightly woven and crispy. I just chose it because I love the colour, I do Not intend to ever iron any of my clothing so it will be rumpled forever.

I'm curious about something. Mostly aimed at fellow fully #blind candidates but I'd be happy to hear thoughts from others as well.
In #language learning, the research shows good results for students immersing themselves into their target language. When exactly to do this is somewhat hotly debated, but I'm curious to what degree the visual component plays into this is a fully blind person were to attempt it. No images, no way to point at things, not QUITE as seamless a way to hover over a word and get its meaning/other information and no real way to learn from, say, tv shows that teach through visuals either, although subtitles CAN at times be a useful tool. Would we do it later? Earlier? Differently than most? I'm curious on your takes. I know what I do, but I can't be the only one looking into this. #languageLearning #linguistics #comprehensibleInput

I mentioned in a previous post that the standout characteristic of this late '70s - early '80s Roebucks-type jacket is the simplification of its construction, such as the fake front "pleats" that serve no functional purpose other than design. Another example of this simplification is the way the sleeves are attached to the shoulders. On most denim jackets there would be a double row of top stitching to reinforce the seam, but that is missing on this jacket.

The lighter denim jacket is the original Roebucks jacket, the darker denim one is my self-made jacket.
The finish of the cuffs is extremely bulky, as you can see in the third photo - 15 layers of denim!
There are plenty of other, far less bulky, ways of finishing the cuffs, but in this case I wanted to use the same method as on the original jacket.

I finally had some time to finish the late '70s - early '80s Sears Roebucks-type denim jacket I started making about a month ago.
The 3rd photo shows the finished jacket next to an original Roebucks jacket.
It's not an exact copy in terms of materials, size, shape and fit, but the construction is exactly the same in both jackets. I'll show some examples in subsequent posts.
