The goal is to spend a week building something of value and then ship that project. It's a great reminder of how much a small team can achieve in just a few days.

Once a year, our whole team changes up their regular work and spends a week focused on building something new.

We call it Build Week and it has become a cherished week at Buffer.

He goes on to share:
"Of course, restricting the timeframe of the trial will lead to more new paying customers in the short term. Over time, however, you’ve lost those people who could gradually build a habit using the product, see value from a free offering, and grow their project or business to the point where they are in a position to pay for a tool."

We've always had a free plan at Buffer. Have you ever wondered why? A lot of tools give free trials, but having a robust free plan is a different strategy, and for us it's more philosophical than purely tactical.

Our CEO, Joel Gascoigne, spoke to this in our 2023 shareholder letter. He describes having a free plan as a long-term decision.

Being a global team, we don't have a central hub, but we do have certain locations where we have more teammates than others.

Right now, Barcelona is our city with the most Buffer teammates and the Unites State is our country with the most Buffer teammates.

@OctaviaConAmore @juergen_hubert We are supporting the out of the box, standard limits from Mastodon. Though I mentioned in another post that our team is revisiting this to see if we can make the character limits match the server limits. Hopefully we'll have more soon! - Hailley

@paregorios Sorry, Tom! I know that's frustrating and you are not alone in requesting that adjustment. It's a bit technically complex on our side, but I spoke with some of our engineers and they have a few creative ideas for how we could implement this, so hopefully we'll have good news to share on that front soon. - Hailley
