Crown #copyright is so stupid.

I'm working on a fork of an old #freesoftware food diary. It's especially useful because it includes the USDA food composition db.

I can make it even more useful by adding data from other countries like the UK. I live in #newzealand, so of course I want to add our db too.

But nooo, I can't. It's under an 'all rights reserved'-style terms of use.

Our taxes funded the db's creation. Why can't we use it again?

I especially like mockmentaries and satires about "normal" people.

@rosalyn The aquafaba I got was kind of runny, so I reduced it on the stove about 30%. I also added two pinches of cream of tartar to help stabilise the foam.

You guys, I #@$!@ing did it! Fiiinaaaallllyyy managed to get firm peaks in my #aquafaba meringues!

I used a manual balloon whisk, so it did take 45 minutes of continuous beating. I think I've burned off a few meringues worth of calories. 💪💪💪

Wouldn't recommend for everyone.They don't let you bring your own mail client. Also, if you want to encrypt your mail you have to do it their way instead of using GPG like a normal person.

I self-host for @missionlibre (my job). Of course, that brings its own problems. I'm very familiar with the SpamHaus appeals process :(
