I decided to make some data-driven #Rtistry for #TidyTuesday this week instead of the usual data visualisations! Each letter in the script is encoded by colour 🎨
Code: https://github.com/nrennie/tidytuesday/tree/main/2024/2024-09-17
I created a parameterised plotting function to map over all acts and scenes 📊: https://github.com/nrennie/tidytuesday/tree/main/2024/2024-09-17/plots
A complex yet clear, optimistic yet peaceful, philosophical yet grounded book. About life, its ecological networks and the importance of inter-relations, including the emotions in relations. I spend half of the "reading" time looking on the page, the other looking in my head.
I've been investigating the behaviour of my new genuary system, and I'm enjoying the mountain-like parts of the parameter space.
Hi! I’m Celine, a researcher on #ClimateChange #Economics at centre-cired.fr. I work on the impacts of climate change, and on climate change #mitigation #pathways and #policies, often focusing on the links between #Inequality and #ClimateChange.
I was involved as a Lead Author in the IPCC report on mitigation, and I am a member of the French High Council on Climate.
I’ll talk here about #research, #teaching, #interdisciplinarity, #transformations for our commun future.
So in about a week I’ll be presenting my talk “It’s All About Perspective: Making A Case for Generative Art” at #positconf2023.
Just like last year, I may or may not be fighting for my life to stay within 20 minutes. It should be an interesting time! 😅🎨
While there is a theme of art, I’m more inclined to say this talk is more about “learning” in general!
If you haven't registered yet, you can check out the entire agenda, workshops, and registration portal here: https://posit.co/conference/
Une excellente introduction au #communs rappelant toute sa dimension politique : nulle démocratie sans communs, nuls communs sans démocratie.

New blog post! Our author @lisacmuth shares tricks on how to create more useful, less confusing color legends for your charts and maps. Also included: A big, annotated collection of smart color keys.

@djnavarro @kristinHenry I was somehow counting on the current crypto downward movement or volatility to lead to changes toward a better NFT model. But in the physical world, one more heatwave or flood does not generally lead to climate awareness and here we are, happy humans still enjoying this planet as much as before, energy-wise.
Back to the topic, Danielle is awesome on many levels, Amy Goodchild and Ijeamaka Anyene wrote fine articles on creative code process. 🙏
@kristinHenry I can observe scams without NFT and shared creative process in the intersection of genart and NFT. I even gathered enough confidence to start a modest creative coding activity by reading posts from - mainly women - who where dabbling with NFT. That being said, i hope that this tech will evolve to be more independent from global cryptocurrencies trends 😅
“My works tend towards simplicity. I use as few elements as possible. I remove extra details; I constrain the parameters of my generative systems; I eliminate the non-essentials…”

It's easy to make hay out of the gamification (hell, call it speculation) aspects of NFTs, not to mention the swamp that is cryptocurrency.
But spending the last year in the NFT space has given me new faith in one thing: People want art in their lives.
Good art, bad art, just the big hits art, whatever. Art. And that's good for artists.
barely a day goes by when I don't think about @jennybryan's excellent tweet:
"All models are wrong, so why not start with one you actually understand?"
Experimenting with adding more colour to my previously-posted #RStats #GenerativeArt system.
@meghansharris Surreal, i'm in the wake up phase, and will likely spend a part of the hiking thinking about what could have happen in index 21.
The vacation experiment was to swap reading by coding to try to squeeze some art in the planning. It failed 🤔 Cheers Meghan!
