The Court of Appeals rules against Bloomington on constitutional question in ongoing annexation litigation, affirming the trial court's grant of partial summary judgment. The court holds that Bloomington, as a municipality, lacks enforceable rights under the contract clauses of the federal or state constitutions, to challenge the 2019 Act as an impairment of its contracts with landowners. thebloomingtonchronicle.org/in

A peek into my spam folder reveals that there's a lot of people who allege that they have stayed at my bed and breakfast and are dissatisfied with the available selections of breakfast food. I have revised my life goals to include actually disappointing people with a subpar breakfast menu. Step 1: Buy a bed and breakfast.

@markstos OK, got it: inaturalist.org/observations/2

Seems like there's quite a few observations of red-shouldered hawks in Bloomington over the last few years!

@markstos No, but only because I don't know what that is. Not because I am consciously deciding not to. Will check into it.

Miller-Showers Park, Bloomington, Indiana (Feb. 1, 2025)

This bird and a duck were going after the same morsel of pondweed when their bills collided. They giggled about it, then fell in love.

It is where the expression "meet coot" comes from.

American coot (chicken-like water bird, black with red eyes and white bill) swimming on the surface of a pond.

Let no one deny that I have not made use of my first week off since shutting down The B Square Bulletin for the benefit of the greater good: Happy Underwear.

(A "re-recording" by mureka.ai/home of a thing I made almost 20 years ago.)
