Unfortunately, yes 😭
@polly you know, for audio books
🥈 2nd place at #GoogleCTF 2025!
Kalmarunionen fought hard all weekend and landed a strong second behind Friendly Maltese Citizens - who almost full-cleared the entire CTF. Huge props to FMC - that was seriously impressive - see you at the Hackceler8 Finals in Mexico City later this year 🇲🇽
It’s been a wild first half of the season, and Kalmarunionen currently sits at World #1 on the global CTF leaderboard. Let’s gooo!!

Sometimes, I receive questions which leave both me, and the person asking, bamboozled.
> Your website loads so quickly! What CDN do you use?
There is no CDN. It is just really small and simple, mostly text.
> Sure, but is that Cloudflare, or...?
None. It is a tiny website, just a few kilobytes per page, on a tiny server, at my home, connected to the Internet via my ISP, Andrews & Arnold.
> But are you / they in the cloud?
No. The webserver is in Newbury, in my garage.
> Neil, please can you pass my questions to your technical person? I don't think you understand, your website cannot be in your home. It must be in the cloud or have a CDN.

One shouldn't need to change the OS on one's laptop or phone to get a private, ad free, not actively user hostile, experience on one's own device.
It is essential that one can do these things - I have, and haven't looked back - but if it is necessary, then there is a failure in regulation and enforcement.
I don't know where you folks get your non-orientable manifolds, but the experience of ordering from Cliff Stoll at kleinbottle.com is second to none
PNG is back!
https://www.programmax.net/articles/png-is-back/ (by Chris Blume)
A new PNG spec was just released! […]
[…] After 20 years of stagnation, PNG is back with renewed vigor!
What's new?
* Proper HDR support (future‐proof, too!)
* Finally recognizes APNGs (animations!)
* Officially supports Exif data
* General tidying up—fixing errata, clarifications, etc.
Buenos días, habitantes de Mastodonia.
Feliz "What a week" day.

the Schmitt trigger, the one used in basically all digital electronics, is inspired by a biological object? More specifically, _the_ squid giant axon?? I can't believe I'm only learning this now despite hearing a lot of things about Schmitt triggers _and_ squid giant axons!
"it's all in your head" yeah it is and the problem is IM IN THERE TOO

Transmuting between chemical elements is dangerous because there are 256 possible atomic numbers but only 81 of them correspond to valid elements. The rest give you glitch elements that behave erratically and can even corrupt nearby atoms and molecules. Most of these are caused by indexing the periodic table out of bounds, though a couple elements were deleted before release.
Whoa: Weston, the reference compositor for #Wayland, supports multiple physical independent mice at the same time! 😀
"New mouse, who dis?"
