ICE agents smashed the window of a car with an axe, then took Juan Francisco Mendez into detention. He was awaiting finalization of his asylum status after fleeing Guatemala. His family and lawyer do not know where he has been taken.
What’s more, he is not the man ICE was looking for. They smashed their way into the the wrong man’s car, and disappeared him into the detention system.
