@tilton Thank you! This is helpful! As with most of my hobbies, I didn't realize the complexity of the waters I'd waded into :)
@cukie My husband has become super involved in Linux color management and calibration recently. He's not on Mastodon but I asked if he'd write something up, and he did!
@halla Great to hear! They’ll work for an LCD laptop display?
@theking Yeah they’re old for sure! Still recommended by gnome it seems? Could be old docs of course
@analogfusion Thanks! Sounds like a good option.
Anyone have experience with color calibration on linux? Specifically with gnome?
The gnome docs suggest a pantone huey is the best supported and cheapest option. I can find them on ebay for around $20. Will I regret not going with a more expensive option?

It feels uncomfortable that these are the official instructions to install @signalapp on linux.
And doing so on a non-debian system is a web of confused searches with very few official docs and lots of non-official packages.
Like, on #fedora I guess the safest way to use the official app is to create a debian distrobox, install with these instructions, and export the app?
Whoa. First new personal computer hardware in a long while and it shows. #darktable is _very_ fast on the new framework 13. Enabled opencl via rocm and did have some weird behavior last night, but I've yet to reproduce.
I may actually get through my backlog of edits one of these days :)
Hey #believeinfilm friends,
I wrote the Internet's most complete guide on overexposing film:
https://www.analog.cafe/r/how-to-overexpose-film-ea9p
It covers everything you can think of, from simple distinctions between pushing and overexposure, to scanning and colour correction.
