Actual svh and safe-area-inset emulation right in Polypane is making such a difference. Truly next-level emulation.

Big fan of “slide to stop” for alarms in iOS 26.1b2, though on the iPhone 13 mini, the label is cut off.

A screenshot of the alarm screen in iOS 26.1b2. There are two controls: a Snooze button and a “slide to stop” bar. On the iPhone mini, the text on “slide to stop” is cut off, only showing “lide to stop”

I wish the iOS YouTube app had a built in Action (or at least Shortcuts support) to save a YouTube video to one’s Watch Later playlist.

The best clue to leave a webpage immediately

A crop of a webpage showing a "table of contents" section. The UI includes an icon button allowing the collapsing/expanding of this section.

Ahh better!

Left: skeleton with all nerves in their original messy way

Right: zipped tied all bundled together alone the spine, a lot better organized

@marioguzman odd, the CarPlay guidelines recommend against apps that display lyrics.

I’m guessing that this is an iPhone-specific widget that can be added to the CarPlay homescreen?

@paulywill Is 95ºC not too high of a temp? I imagine it makes quick work of removing the moisture, but don't you worry that the Good Stuff™ is getting volatilized/damaged?

@paulywill I use a Excalibur dehydrator with 9 racks (though, I space them out, using only half the racks). I dehydrate either at ~41º (the lowest it goes), or at ambient temp, to minimize heat damage to the cones. Either way, after 10-15 hours, each batch is sufficiently dry.

I then pack the dried hops into vacuum bags, 100g at a time, vacuum the air out, and throw 'em into the chest freezer. I can't use them up fast enough and have to give some away every year.

Well yes, soylent green _is_ people, but you can't just apply existing homicide laws to a business like ours. The entire humans-as-nutritional-sludge industry would be out of business.

A headline that reads "Microsoft mandates return to office - claims Teams and all remote work solutions are inferior" with a comment that reads: "Imagine being on the Teams team and getting a team Teams call that your team needs to work on Teams onsite because working on Teams on Teams isn’t a good way to work in teams"

If Apple still had courage they would've opened the keynote with this. @atpfm

The first slide of the iPhone 17 keynote with Steve Jobs' quote about "Design is how it works", but in a glass bubble over a picture of the Apple Park rainbow stage, making it entirely illegible.

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

The contemporary version of @1password Safari extension is perhaps my buggiest piece of software, and has been for years. Blank popover windows, slow authentication, unreliable autofill, etc. Works as expected maybe 40% of the time. I'm tempted to disable the extension.

Meanwhile, I have a secondary machine (running Sequoia) where I haven't upgraded 1Password from v7, and the Safari extension there works *perfectly*.

Centennial harvest day today. Probably going to get ~600g, dry, from three bines this year. Rakau harvest in two weeks.
