A boat is tied up at a dock, waiting for the fog to lift on the Mullica River in New Jersey. You can barely make out some land and channel markers in the background through the thick fog. This photo is processed in black and white.

One of the last photos I took of Jasper and the bay, along with the young sorrel colt they took under their wing. The two were found shot to death by murderers and cowards. The young sorrel hasn't been seen since. I hope he turns up safe! My heart is heavy, and my faith in human nature shaken once again, to the core!

Another surprise.

When I first started this hobby, there were a lot of house sparrows and house finches around and I learned to tell the difference between two, or so I thought. What I really did was learn to identify a house finch, once I did that all others were house sparrows. 🙄 This bird is a breeding male.

And I'm out of characters 😠.

Along with two other introduced species, the European Starling and the Rock Pigeon, these are some of our most common birds. This is a male house finch perched on a branch in a tree. The bird almost blends perfectly with his surroundings. He has a short thick black beak and black eyes. A thing I find interesting is his visible eye appears to be set forward more than most birds; his eye is hard to see so perhaps it's a trick of light. The feathers on his back and wings are a rich dark amber brown with a light tan strip on the wing about halfway down. His throat and breast are mostly white tan, but there is a black patch just below the throat, which according to what I've read identifies a breeding male. His feet are pinkish and grasping a branch but are difficult to see because of focus.

A small hydrangea flower. I'm fascinated by these flowers. I don't know if it's the simplicity, the symmetry, the small nub in the center, or most likely, all three.

We have a bush about 15 feet long and 7 feet high that grows hundreds of these flowers every spring. I photograph them way more than I should.

This is an old photo. When we first got Ben, we got his brother Jerry as well. So, it was Ben and Jerry. Now it's Ben and Charlie.

Ben is on the bottom in this picture. Unfortunately, Jerry passed away about nine years ago at the age of five. Yep, it's sad, but I have fond memories of the two of them together and their escapades.

Ben and Jerry, both small black and tan puppies, still wet from a bath. They are snuggled one atop the other and covered with a red towel.

Throwback to one of the wildest (and luckiest) shots I've ever taken.

On approach into London several years back, the position of the sun & clouds created a halo around our plane's shadow as the sun highlighted the Tower Bridge. I'm still kicking myself for using my iPhone instead of my good camera, but I didn't expect the clouds to part. Lesson learned! 😒 😆
