What a productive week! ๐Ÿ“ธ Iโ€™ve just finished sorting through the photo album from my recent adventure in China, and Iโ€™m surprised by how quickly it all came together. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ

Being able to bring the drone along was a total game-changer. ๐Ÿš The aerial perspectives add such a unique dimension to the mix โ€“ itโ€™s amazing to see those landscapes from a different angle. ๐ŸŒ

Heading home soon after an epic trip! โœˆ๏ธ So far, I have captured about 2,000 photos with the camera ๐Ÿ“ธ and another 200 with the drone ๐Ÿ›ธ.

It is going to be quite some work to get ahead of the editing process โ€“ but I cannot wait to share the results! ๐Ÿ’ปโœจ Stay tuned for the highlights. ๐ŸŽž๏ธ

Past the halfway mark on our China adventure! ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ

From Jianshui to Yuanyang, weโ€™ve captured some incredible drone footage. The sheer volume of sights and impressions is almost overwhelming โ€“ this countryโ€™s culture is just too deep to explore fully in one lifetime.

Canโ€™t wait to organize this material for a dedicated album and my Selected collection. Stay tuned! ๐Ÿ“ธ

Hainan is beautiful, but the drone is staying unfortunately grounded in this area! ๐Ÿ๏ธ๐Ÿ›‘

Discovered that simple registration isnโ€™t enough in China โ€“ between the proximity to the airport and the requirement for individual flight approvals, itโ€™s a lot of paperwork for such a small device.

On the bright side: we finally figured out the procedure! Now we hope we're prepared for next time. ๐Ÿ”„๐Ÿ’ก

Update on the "drone dilemma" for my upcoming China trip: The decision is made!

I went through the process and have now successfully registered my drone with the Chinese authorities (CAAC).

This means the drone is officially coming along! I'm cleared to fly, provided I stick to all the usual regulations โ€“ respecting altitude limits, staying clear of no-fly zones, and flying safely.

Really excited to (hopefully) capture some unique aerial perspectives of South China!

It's tempting, but I have a few reservations. I'm concerned about splitting my focus between gadgets, not to mention the issues of extra weight and keeping everything charged.

The biggest hurdle, though, seems to be the regulations. I've read that you need a special license to fly a drone in China, and I'm on the fence about whether the hassle of acquiring one is worth it for a trip.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Has anyone here flown a drone in China recently or faced a similar decision?

We're gearing up for a trip to China ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ in just a few weeks! This will be my second visit after a trip in 2023, but this time we're prioritizing South China โ€“ in large part for the more favorable weather at the end of the year. I'm incredibly excited to explore new regions and soak in more of China's amazing culture and history.

The big question I'm debating is whether to pack the drone.
