Yesterday, Israeli settlers from an ilegal settlement in the West Bank of Palestine did a pogrom against Arabs in the town of Jit. This is what you can read about it today in Walla:

* The pogrom is called a riot and there is no mention of it being "terrorism" of any kind.
* The West Bank is called Samaria.
* The so called Kedumim Council is an internationally recognised ilegal settlement, like all in the West Bank.
* Stone throwing by Palestinians, however, is called "terrorist incidents".

Following the riot: the head of the Kedomim Council spoke with the head of the Jit Council
Shlomi Heller

Following the settlers' riot last night (Thursday) in the village of Jit in Samaria, the head of the Kedumim Council Ozel Vatiik talked today with Nasser Sida, the head of the neighboring Jit village council. In a statement given by the head of the Kedumim Council, it was stated that the two agreed that the residents of the area should continue to live in peace and without violence from either side. A veteran asked Sida to make sure that there are no terrorist incidents, including stone throwing, from the village. He denied the events last night in the village.

@neonsnake
I couldn't find the audio, but some npr affiliate just did a program about this overpopulation concern started in the 60s when this author got on the Tonight Show. He basically wrote about being in a taxi on a crowded Indian street, and all the poor brown people made him say the world is getting overpopulated and will collapse by the 1970s or some other rubbish.

@dyscommunication
Fascist totalitarianism's “organizational form” was “inspired by the totalitarian party that had first been tested and developed in Russia”. (“Fascism was [is] a desperate attempt to defend the bourgeois economy from the dual threat of crisis and proletarian subversion, a state of siege in which capitalist society saved itself by giving itself an emergency dose of rationalization in the form of massive state intervention.“) “Although fascism rallies to the defense of the main icons of a bourgeois ideology that has become conservative (family, private property, moral order, patriotism), while mobilizing the petty bourgeoisie and the unemployed workers who are panic-stricken by economic crises or disillusioned by the socialist movement's failure to bring about a revolution, it is not itself fundamentally ideological. It presents itself as what it is—a violent resurrection of myth calling for participation in a community defined by archaic pseudovalues: race, blood, leader. Fascism is ... the most costly method of preserving the capitalist order....” (Thesis 109, p 55) (Society of the Spectacle by Guy Debord)

@softdrink421 I saw some of this movie and thought it might have been inappropriate that the lady kissed the boy to teach him how to kiss the girl.

Before the intense police incursion and taser incident etc earlier, most of the barricade perimeter looked like this as dozens of students carried out a seemingly spontaneous act of mass defiance

Metal barricade balanced very askew amidst overturned and inter tangled metal tables and chairsMetal barricades laid over overturned lawn chairs sideways not as intended by police presumably as part of protest barricade. Evening dusk lighting over concrete and dark green grass. The same formation of Philly PD riot police and others are still staged immediately nearby the occupied Drexel green as student protesters who seem intent on staying are taking in a Know Your Rights training from legal observers

A Philly PD officer drew a taser on Drexel students and had to be stopped/held back by other cops during the earlier initial police push before they withdrew back to the barricades - before this clip taken earlier a PPD white shirt was heard yelling in frustration at underlings

Twenty years ago today, demonstrators attempted to shut down cities around the United States in response to George W. Bush's invasion of Iraq. In San Francisco, for example, anarchists and other protesters successfully blockaded the financial district while a black bloc attacked army recruiting stations. Police responded by arresting 2200 people in that city alone.

Had we succeeded in stopping the invasion of Iraq, we would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives—and likely prevented the rise of the Islamic State, among countless other tragedies. If we had fought harder, it would have been worth it, even if the consequences for us had been severe.

This is the poster we circulated to promote the day of action on March 20, 2003. Let us never underestimate the stakes of our struggles. 🏴

A CrimethInc. poster from 2003 showing George Bush saying "Stop Me Before I Kill Again" and reading "When the bombing starts—America stops."A screenshot of a March 20, 2003 article from Salon titled "Anarchy in the Streets of San Francisco." The text reads:

Streets in the Middle East, Europe and the United States filled Thursday with outraged protesters as the first big wave of bombs crashed on Iraq. As many as 100,000 people were reported at a protest in Athens, and in Cairo, a crowd of 30,000 took to the streets. In San Francisco, over 1,400 were arrested as they attempted to shut down the city's Financial District, and busy downtown intersections were choked off throughout the day by roving bands of protesters, while police helicopters hovered overhead. San Francisco's acting police chief called the day-long disruptions "anarchy."
