Can anyone recommend a decent Windows 11 backup program.. I don't need fancy but something preferably free / opensource (better) and something with a GUI, can schedule backups and can backup to a NAS /SMB fileshare.. currently using AOMEI Backupper Standard but wondering if there is something out there that doesnt have baked in "up sell" to pro product. This isnt for a main machine, just a second PC thats used for games.
@robdaemon Tell me about it, been looking for a several weeks now and while I find a few good matches for my skills/experience, I often see the same job description posted by several "agencies" and its really hard to decipher who is the actual job from and who is just looking for finders fees.. its really bad.. I spend probably half my day just trying to validate either talent agents with names I can't help but butcher or trying to find the real job post.
@robdaemon Blockchain is still a *thing*? I know when I was at IBM they were pushing that stuff hard then we had a CEO change and it all went away ..
@robdaemon Why I just turned off all news sources, I occasionally hear something once its filtered thru several layers but most of the rage inducing nonsense that is there by design to exhaust you I don't get.. I really don't want to be in a constant state of daily rage and perpetually exhausted by the clown show happening in DC and abroad .. That man already lived rent free in my head for 4 years, not this time around.
@robdaemon oh wow, this is unexpected.. I hope she didn't suffer.. I feel bad for her family and close friends..
@rasterinterrupt I'd still pull the battery, I don't have time for fussy stuff like that.. lol.. 😂
@ne1for23 @particlesbbs Oh thats not bad price wise,.. thanks .. it looks interesting, kinda reminds me of my dads old setup where he had a Hailcraft shortwave radio and a little police/fire scanner.. as a kid I loved messing with the Hailcraft as it had all the knobs and buttons and notations of exotic foreign countries.. (his radio looked a bit like this, not my pic)
@particlesbbs @ne1for23 Thanks its a start, just seen a number of folks talk bout it over the years (more so my HAM friends).. thanks!
@particlesbbs @ne1for23 What SDR radio setups are you folks using, ive seen people talk about it over the years just curious what devices/setups and if you have any good websites/blogs you can direct me to so I can learn more bout it.. seems like an interesting hobby.

@robdaemon I think when our 20+ year old above ground pool finally dies, replace our deck .. the wood isnt rotting so much as its cracking wildly .. not sure how to describe it other than to say its breaking down because of the massive cracks in the planks.. (if that makes sense).
If anyone else know of a FF extension I can use for Zen that lets me tweak websites like this, I would love to know.. Stylus is the closest ive come to it and the UI is more for folks who know JS/CSS .. etc..
@robdaemon ill probably keep using Arc as my primary until the little green wheels fall off .. but ill shadow Zen for now, get all the needed extensions and such I can, so the transition will be effortless ..
@robdaemon Im looking at it now (even as we chat), the Zen ui isnt as nice as Arc no, its better than the last time I looked and one silver lining is being FF based no manifest v3 nonsense .. so a plus. I use bitwarden and Ublock so ill let you know how trying to make them always visible goes, as thats my preference as well. I mean I can likely work with zen but its probably going to take a number of extensions and lots of tweaks, I also need them to support folders in vertical tabs..
@robdaemon Ironically I learned of Arc from you.. 😂 .. I suppose I can make Zen work but I really like the boost where I can override the design choices companies make for their websites, eg I dont want white blaring screens and I am not a fan of using dark mode globally.. Boosts were a good alternative to extensions like Stylus (which seems overly complicated to use for simple website tweaks). Its also unfortunate they are not going to opensource Arc, that would have been nice.
@robdaemon Actually I really liked ARC, it worked in a manor that made sense to my brain.. (im using it now) the A I stuff I never used much though the tidy tabs were nice, Most of that stuff I didn't enable. What I do like is the "boosts" and "Air Traffic control" .. Im looking at Zen but finding it lacking, but "DIA" the project the gave up Arc to build, yea thats not for me, I dont rely on web apps (eg I still use Apple Mail for my gmail, I am not their demographic) I use apps vs web.
@robdaemon I didn't even notice you had moved at first, I only caught it by realizing I had not seen your posts in a while which is unlike you (being at least a daily poster).
@robdaemon even the parking lot is a pre-game challenge in and of itself.
