@faduda North has a company based in Lithuania and also employs staff there, but according to its terms of use, the relevant company is based in Panama.

@ottok How do you get the impression that there are no updates since 2022? We add products regularly and recently added a new content tool.

@giorgiolucas not really, I only heard of Swissbit swissbit.com/en/ but if you find something else let us know :)

@heartshadows@toot.community @lil5 @Mojeek European Alternatives is not ONLY an EU website, it never has been. Even though the EU is most prominent on the website and the most important. Since the start we list f.e. also Swiss and Norwegian products as well and nobody ever had a problem with that and they are like the UK products marked as not from the EU on the website. The flag is also not ONLY the EU flag but also the flag of the Council of Europe.

@secupriv If they actually fail the adequacy decision I'll reconsider.

@martin @Mojeek I don't want to give this post too much attention, but I just want to clarify: We'll never list Russian companies on European Alternatives, and even delist companies that are too closely affiliated with this country.

@nihkeys You can look at this category with a UK product listed. It's very visible which are from the UK, and it's not like there is any category on the site that has a lot of products, but I'll think about adding a filter.

@katzenberger Sad to hear that, but you do understand that it is visible which products are from the UK and which are from the EU. They have different banners. Also, it's not like a UK service will replace an EU service on the list, it's just additional.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ After many discussions, I’ve decided to start including products from the UK in European Alternatives.
The first UK product on European Alternatives is Mojeek β€” an independent search engine, run by a small team committed to privacy and ethical search.
They are also on Mastodon: @Mojeek

@jooooob Please look at our latest post. We now have a tool for suggestions.

We’ve reached out to everyone who used the chat bubble to let them know this is now the official way to suggest content – and we're already looking at over 300 new product suggestions! πŸš€ It’ll take some time to review everything, but this update makes the process way more efficient in the long run.

Want to help out with reviewing?

Big news! 😊 After a month-long soft launch, I’m proud to share our new Content Suggestion Tool – the improved way to propose edits, new products, and even vote on new categories. While the process is more structured (and yes, slower), it’s a necessary step to manage the high volume of suggestions.

A quick update: Work on the feature that will make it possible to suggest changes is in full swing, but will still take a while. Until then, I will have to focus on this in the limited time available and unfortunately cannot reply to the vast majority of messages with suggestions.

The newspaper "DerStandard" published an interview with me yesterday about European Alternatives. As this is the newspaper I read every day, I am particularly proud of it and wanted to share it with you. Unfortunately the article is only in German.

They even sell phones with their OS already installed
